Velga Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Velga on Geležinio vilko street, I’ll be honest — it’s not the flashiest place you’ll see in Vilnius. This two-star property sits quietly in the Vilkpėdė neighborhood, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. The building has that clean, no-nonsense look that immediately tells you they focus on getting the basics right rather than trying to impress with fancy lobbies or marble everything.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I really appreciate about Vilkpėdė — you’re actually in a proper residential area where real Lithuanians live, not some touristy bubble. It’s about a 15-minute ride to Old Town, which honestly isn’t bad at all, and you get to see how the city actually functions beyond the medieval walls. The neighborhood has that authentic Eastern European vibe with Soviet-era apartment blocks mixed with newer developments. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance, and I noticed several locals who clearly knew each other — always a good sign you’re somewhere genuine.

The Room Experience

My room was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run two-star place — clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable. The bed was better than I anticipated (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and everything worked properly. No fancy amenities, but the heating was solid, the shower had good pressure, and there was enough space to actually unpack without living out of your suitcase. The windows face the quiet street, so you’re not dealing with traffic noise all night.

What Sets It Apart

The thing that really struck me about Velga is how many guests seemed to be returning visitors — I overheard at least three different conversations where people mentioned they’d stayed before. That tells you something right there. The staff clearly remembers their regulars, and there’s this relaxed efficiency to how they run things. Parking is right there on-site, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central Vilnius, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold. I mean, not having to circle blocks looking for a spot or worry about your car? That’s genuinely valuable.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back isn’t luxury or Instagram-worthy interiors — it’s reliability and value. Couples seem particularly drawn to this place, probably because it offers that sweet spot of being affordable without feeling sketchy or uncomfortable. You’re getting honest accommodation that delivers on its promises without any unpleasant surprises. The 8.0 rating makes perfect sense when you experience it firsthand — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does well. For travelers who want a clean, safe base to explore Vilnius without breaking the bank, Velga hits that target consistently.

To book hotel in Vilnius during the famous Vilnius Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts baroque architecture enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

Reviews of Velga

  • Wonderful – Maksim from Belarus – June 21, 2025 (9/10)

Staff is very helpful and ready to help at any time.
    Very clean rooms.

  • Good – Gerda from Lithuania – May 4, 2025 (7/10)

    Staff.

What could be improved: There was a very bad smell in the bathroom. No hair dryer. Price was too high for such quality accomodation.

  • It was perfect for one night before the flight. – Vadzim from Belarus – August 5, 2024 (9/10)

The hotel is not located exactly in the city center, but there is a good bus and trolleybus service. I preferred to go to the airport by Bolt. The room is cozy, although without air conditioning in the heat of about 30 degrees it was stuffy to sleep even with the window open. The bed is comfortable, the mattress is moderately soft. The TV had channels only in Lithuanian. The shower and toilet are clean. There is a refrigerator. I used the parking (paid – 2 euros per night), left the car while leaving by plane. There is enough space in the parking lot, no need to "squeeze", like in the Old Town. The staff is friendly and helped with all questions.

What could be improved: Probably just stuffy in the heat without air conditioning. I can't point out any other drawbacks.

  • Great stay but ask if they give you a fan for a hot day – Agne from United States – July 1, 2024 (8/10)

Check in 24h. Friendly receptionist. Clean room and comfortable beds. Late check out!

What could be improved: we stayed during a heat wave, the room was very hot, we slept with window open, but garbage truck woke us at a crack of dawn. No fans and no ac. The radiator in the bathroom is super hot which is useful if you have wet stuff to dry but it got the room even hotter. The staff is aware and they are working to address the issue though!

  • Simple, easy, staff always ready to help, best value for money – Christian from Belgium – June 21, 2024 (10/10)

Had everything I needed, simple and easy to use, close to the LitExpo

  • A one night stand – Vjatseslav from Estonia – May 26, 2024 (8/10)

The staff was nice and welcoming. There is a store in a minute if walking

What could be improved: AC would be a nice addition. The smell of detergent in bedding and towels was too strong for our liking.

  • Very Good – Oskar from Spain – January 17, 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: No room cleaning

  • It perfectly worked for me – Tanya from United Kingdom – October 5, 2023 (8/10)

  • Good – Anfisskass from Belarus – April 20, 2023 (7/10)

We were there only for couple hours. we just spent the night at the hotel.
We were settled at once despite we arrived late (1.00am) The room was clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: nothing can say

  • Very Good – Kristina from United Kingdom – February 23, 2023 (8/10)
