Velga Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Velga on Geležinio vilko street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 2-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come wrapped in unassuming packages. This little hotel sits in Vilkpede, which is actually a pretty sweet spot if you know Vilnius at all. You’re far enough from the tourist chaos of Old Town to get some peace, but close enough that a quick bus ride gets you there in about 15 minutes.

The thing about Velga is that it feels more like staying at someone’s well-kept guesthouse than a traditional hotel. The staff actually remembers your name after the first night – I mean, that’s rare these days, right? The rooms are clean and straightforward, nothing fancy, but honestly the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the Wi-Fi actually works (which, let’s face it, isn’t always a given in budget places). What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night. You’re in a residential area, so no late-night bar crowds or traffic noise keeping you awake. The only sounds you’ll hear are maybe some birds in the morning and the occasional dog walker on the street below.

Here’s what I really appreciated – parking is free and right there, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central Vilnius, you’ll know is basically gold. The breakfast is simple but fresh, and they actually have decent coffee, not that watery stuff you sometimes get. Plus, there’s a little Maxima grocery store about a 3-minute walk away if you need to grab snacks or whatever. The area feels safe too – I walked around in the evenings without any worries. Look, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or fancy amenities, but for the price point, Velga delivers exactly what it promises: a clean, comfortable place to sleep with people who genuinely seem to care that you have a good stay. Sometimes that’s all you really need, especially when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway.

To book hotel in Vilnius during the famous Vilnius Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts baroque architecture enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

Reviews of Velga

  • Wonderful – Maksim from Belarus – June 21, 2025 (9/10)

Staff is very helpful and ready to help at any time.
    Very clean rooms.

  • Great stay but ask if they give you a fan for a hot day – Agne from United States – July 1, 2024 (8/10)

Check in 24h. Friendly receptionist. Clean room and comfortable beds. Late check out!

What could be improved: we stayed during a heat wave, the room was very hot, we slept with window open, but garbage truck woke us at a crack of dawn. No fans and no ac. The radiator in the bathroom is super hot which is useful if you have wet stuff to dry but it got the room even hotter. The staff is aware and they are working to address the issue though!

  • It perfectly worked for me – Tanya from United Kingdom – October 5, 2023 (8/10)

Close to the airport , helpful staff , comfy bed, 24 hours reception

  • It was perfect for one night before the flight. – Vadzim from Belarus – August 5, 2024 (9/10)

The hotel is not located exactly in the city center, but there is a good bus and trolleybus service. I preferred to go to the airport by Bolt. The room is cozy, although without air conditioning in the heat of about 30 degrees it was stuffy to sleep even with the window open. The bed is comfortable, the mattress is moderately soft. The TV had channels only in Lithuanian. The shower and toilet are clean. There is a refrigerator. I used the parking (paid – 2 euros per night), left the car while leaving by plane. There is enough space in the parking lot, no need to "squeeze", like in the Old Town. The staff is friendly and helped with all questions.

What could be improved: Probably just stuffy in the heat without air conditioning. I can't point out any other drawbacks.

  • A one night stand – Vjatseslav from Estonia – May 26, 2024 (8/10)

The staff was nice and welcoming. There is a store in a minute if walking

What could be improved: AC would be a nice addition. The smell of detergent in bedding and towels was too strong for our liking.

  • Very Good – Oskar from Spain – January 17, 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: No room cleaning

  • Good – Anfisskass from Belarus – April 20, 2023 (7/10)

We were there only for couple hours. we just spent the night at the hotel.
We were settled at once despite we arrived late (1.00am) The room was clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: nothing can say

  • Good – Gerda from Lithuania – May 4, 2025 (7/10)

    Staff.

What could be improved: There was a very bad smell in the bathroom. No hair dryer. Price was too high for such quality accomodation.

  • Very Good – Kristina from United Kingdom – February 23, 2023 (8/10)

    Staff very polite.

What could be improved: Don't to much shampoo and body gel.

  • Simple, easy, staff always ready to help, best value for money – Christian from Belgium – June 21, 2024 (10/10)

Had everything I needed, simple and easy to use, close to the LitExpo
