You’re literally in the heart of the old medina – not some tourist-trap version of it, but the actual living, breathing maze where locals still go about their daily business. I could hear the call to prayer drifting through my window at dawn (which actually became oddly comforting after the first night), and the scent of tagines and mint tea just sort of hangs in the air around this neighborhood. The narrow alleyways can be a bit tricky to navigate with luggage – I definitely recommend packing light – but once you’re settled in, you realize you can walk to the best souks and authentic restaurants without dealing with any of the hassle that comes with staying in the newer districts.

What really won me over, though, was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure guests had a real experience. The guy at reception (I think his name was Youssef?) didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he actually sat down and marked out where to find the best leather goods, which hammam was worth the money, and honestly, his restaurant recommendations were spot-on every single time. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The traditional tilework in the lobby and common areas gives you that authentic Moroccan vibe without feeling like you’re in some theme park version of Morocco. Sure, the WiFi can be a bit spotty during peak hours, and if you’re on a lower floor, you’ll hear some street noise – but that’s part of the charm, really. You’re not here to hide away in your room anyway. I’d definitely come back, especially considering what you get for the price point.
