Tokyo Vibes – Private Sleeping Pods Hostel, Self check-in Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Tokyo Vibes – Private Sleeping Pods Hostel, Self check-in on Subačiaus street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The name suggests something futuristic, and well — it sort of delivers on that promise. This four-star hostel sits in the Rasos district of Vilnius, which is actually a pretty smart location if you know the city. The self check-in process threw me off at first (no human interaction can feel weird), but it’s surprisingly smooth once you get the hang of it.
The Pod Experience
Here’s the thing about sleeping pods — they’re either going to be your thing or they’re not. Each room is basically a high-tech capsule that feels like something out of a sci-fi movie. I mean, you’re not getting a sprawling suite here, but the design is genuinely clever. The pods are way more spacious than airplane seats, obviously, and they’ve managed to fit in everything you actually need: a comfortable bed, charging ports, decent lighting, and surprisingly good ventilation. The privacy factor is better than I expected too — you’re not sharing space with random strangers like in traditional hostels.
Location and Getting Around
Rasos isn’t exactly the Old Town, but that’s actually not a bad thing. You’re close enough to walk to the main attractions (maybe 15-20 minutes to the cathedral), but you’re also in a neighborhood where actual locals live and work. There are some decent cafés nearby, and honestly, the area feels more authentic than the touristy center. Plus — and this is huge if you’re driving — there’s parking available for free. Try finding that anywhere near Vilnius’s Old Town, I dare you.
What Works (And What Doesn’t)
The technology aspect is pretty well executed. Everything from check-in to controlling your pod’s settings happens through an app, which sounds gimmicky but actually works smoothly. The common areas are clean and modern, though they can feel a bit sterile — you know, that minimalist aesthetic that looks great in photos but sometimes lacks warmth in person. The bathrooms are shared but well-maintained, and there’s a small kitchen area if you want to prep your own meals. One thing to note: if you’re someone who needs complete silence to sleep, the slight hum of the ventilation system might bother you.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider what this place is trying to do. It’s not pretending to be a traditional hotel, and it’s definitely not your typical backpacker hostel either. Couples seem particularly drawn to it (they’ve rated the location 8.5), probably because you get privacy without paying hotel prices. The whole concept appeals to travelers who want something different — maybe you’re curious about pod hotels but don’t want to fly to Japan to try one. It’s clean, it’s safe, the location is solid, and the free parking situation is genuinely valuable in a city where parking can be a nightmare.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Vilnius at least two months ahead for major events like cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

Reviews of Tokyo Vibes – Private Sleeping Pods Hostel, Self check-in
Privacy and value – Chemchad from Canada – August 22, 2025 (6/10)
If you prefer a hostel that offers some additional privacy, this one will meet your needs. The concept is nice, as each bed has their own little "space" with a desk and chair and a curtain to separate your space from others. The hostel is also quite small, so there won't be many people passing through at the same time, so there won't be massive queues for the toilet or shower. The value is also quite good, and everything feels relatively clean (except the second shower which is still not draining and still overflows as I read in another comment)
What could be improved: I was unlucky and had a few issues because there was no typical hostel staff. When I arrived at the hostel, I was given a code for the door. I didn't know that code would expire, and when I arrived, the front door was opened so I went straight to my assigned bed. The next morning when I left the hostel/came back, I couldn't get in because my code had expired – So I was stranded out front. I texted the number on the door, called. And while it did get resolved, it took some time of me sitting outside and waiting for a new code to be sent. Someone was also cooking one of the nights well past midnight, and because the hostel is so small you can hear everything happening in the hallway.Comfortable stay with a great mix of privacy and socialising – Nicola from United Kingdom – August 3, 2025 (9/10)
I loved the curtained-off personal areas.
Location was a little far from the centre but personally I loved being outside of things and having a park right behind the accommodation.
The lack of communal area was actually great for meeting others considering that the kitchen was basically the corridor.
What could be improved: It's a little baffling that the curtains aren't thicker – if someone had their lamp on you could see right in.
Directions weren't clear. The entrance is clearly right in front of you when you arrive but instructions suggest you have to go around the building.
One of the shower stalls continues to flood (referencing previous reviews). The curtain is too short to prevent spray and the stall doesn't drain well. One becomes a mother-flooder despite their best efforts.Wonderful – Serly from Indonesia – July 24, 2025 (9/10)
Love that I still got my personal space even though it is a sharing room. So creative!!
Very comfy and private for a hostel!!! – Maria from Argentina – June 30, 2025 (10/10)
nice, neat and with cool privacy for a hostel. the cleaning boys were so sweet. lovely place in a quiet neighborhood.
also its cool to have your own little desk in a hostel!!! and girls only room. it was wonderful
What could be improved: ofc as is a shared room, you can hear everything your roommates are doing, but at least you can't see anyone 🙂Wonderful – Sylvi from Ireland – June 22, 2025 (9/10)
Private space, a little table in the room, area is very quiet and there's a supermarket juz outside the hostel and 10mins bus to city, great location! The room are clean also.
Very Good – Yonghong from Denmark – June 2, 2025 (8/10)
good value for money
What could be improved: need to provide a bed sheetWonderful – Mouna from Morocco – June 1, 2025 (9/10)
Friendly staff, good service. Clean. And the most positive thing I liked is the private pods. You have a desk and seperated space.
What could be improved: The pillowcleanliness needs to be improved – Yuen from Hong Kong – May 27, 2025 (7/10)
the pod provides privacy during the stay. the Girls room is fantastic.
What could be improved: they have the Tokyo Vibes in the setting. But don't have the cleanliness of the real tokyo pod. Way far from the them.
cleanliness really need to improve. there are only two Indian boy who do the cleaning. they are nice but not thoroughly clean the common area. i've been there for a few days, i found the dusty floor of girls room still there with hair. the toilet was not very hygienic. the shower is the worst, always flood over to the floor because the shower curtain is too short. there was once even flooded out to the common area of the corridor.
the host should hire professional cleaner. not just ask those staff to clean the flat.Clean, comfortable, good value – Zuzanna from Italy – May 4, 2025 (9/10)
Nice sleeping spaces offering some privacy even though the room was shared
What could be improved: A bit hard to find the entrance (it’s in a condominium)Wonderful – Ольга from Ukraine – April 27, 2025 (9/10)
I really liked the feeling of privacy here, also it is very clean and the location is quite comfortable. +The administrator was really polite and cooperative
What could be improved: Although, it is a little bit too cold here and I would say that the shower curtain needs to be changed because it is too short and the water is always all over the floor
