I was expecting some generic backpacker spot, but this place on Goštauto street actually has character – the kind you don’t find in cookie-cutter hotels. It’s right there in Naujamiestis, which honestly is perfect if you want to be close to the action without dealing with Old Town’s tourist chaos and cobblestone ankle-breakers.

The whole vibe is sort of this laid-back pub meets boutique hostel thing that somehow works really well. I mean, having a proper pub downstairs could be a nightmare for light sleepers, but they’ve got it figured out – the sound doesn’t really carry up to the rooms, at least not the ones I stayed in. The common areas have this authentic feel, not that forced “quirky” decoration you see everywhere now. You’ll find locals mixing with travelers at the bar, which is always a good sign. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which makes a difference when you’re trying to figure out where to grab decent coffee that won’t cost you a fortune (there’s a great little spot just two blocks down toward the river, by the way).

What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole hostel experience without making it feel institutional. The rooms are clean and well-thought-out – nothing fancy, but you’ve got proper storage and the beds don’t squeak every time someone moves. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, but there’s street parking if you’re patient, and they’ll point you toward a garage if you need something more secure. Check-in was straightforward, no weird rules or deposits that some hostels throw at you. Honestly, for the price point and the location – you’re a ten-minute walk from Cathedral Square and even closer to some excellent restaurants that tourists never find – it’s solid value. The 7.3 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for something with personality that won’t drain your travel budget, especially if you appreciate having a good pub right downstairs for those evenings when you don’t feel like wandering around looking for a place to hang out, Tiki Taka delivers on that front.

  The bed was comfortable, everything was clean and it was quiet. Location is nice – close to a riverbank, but walking through the backyard at night might be a bit scary for a solo traveller.
  
  What could be improved: The bar was closed the whole time (three days I was here), so I had to do self check-in and got the code to the door only after writing a message requesting it when I found the bar closed. Nobody picked the phone. The light in the dorm room was not working.

  I had a really good bunk mate. We hung out for a few hours on our last day there. It was really quiet.
  
  What could be improved: Towels on the chairs in the common area, not enough eating utensils, leaky refrigerator and dirty linen laundry on the floor in the women's shower area. They make the hostel look extremely unkept and perceived to be uncleaned. The bathrooms were clean and so were the sleeping rooms.
