The Zen Den apartment in Uzupis Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about The Zen Den apartment in Uzupis, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Uzupis itself is this quirky little district that declared itself an independent republic (they even have their own constitution written on mirrors, which is actually pretty charming). But this place? It completely won me over from the moment I walked up Kreivasis Street and found it tucked away like some kind of well-kept secret.
The thing about this apartment is that it doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is – a perfectly designed space that somehow manages to feel both sophisticated and completely relaxed at the same time. You know how some places feel like they’re showing off? This isn’t that. The owner clearly has an eye for detail, but everything feels intentional rather than fussy. The lighting is spot-on (warm, never harsh), and honestly, the bed situation is better than most five-star places I’ve stayed in. I mean, I’m someone who usually takes forever to fall asleep in new places, but here I was out like a light. The neighborhood itself is fascinating – during the day you’ll hear artists working in their studios nearby, and evenings get surprisingly quiet considering you’re still technically in Vilnius Old Town.
What really sets this apart is the location within Uzupis. Most tourists stick to the main drag near the angel statue, but staying on Kreivasis means you’re living like a local in what feels like a village within the city. There’s this little coffee spot just around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign – locals just call it “the place with the good coffee” – and you can walk to the Vilnia River in about two minutes when you need to clear your head. The apartment itself has this amazing natural light that changes throughout the day, and the owner has curated books and little touches that make it feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have impeccable taste. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Old Town), but there are spots if you know where to look, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. I’ve stayed in a lot of places that call themselves boutique, but this one actually earns it – it’s the kind of spot that makes you want to extend your trip, maybe work remotely for a few extra days just to soak in that peaceful Uzupis energy a little longer.

We had a wonderful stay at The Zen Den Apartment in Užupis! The place looks just like the photos – very modern, cozy, bright, and clean. The apartment has a beautiful view and two cozy balconies, and the kitchen had everything we needed, plus nice extras like coffee and tea.
The location is perfect – quiet and close to the old town. There are lots of great cafes and shops nearby. The bed was very comfortable, the wi-fi was fast, and the apartment was peaceful at night.
The host was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!
