Tatjanos Dvaras Overview

Honestly, I almost walked right past Tatjanos Dvaras the first time I was looking for it on Medkirčių gatvė – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential stretch that feels worlds apart from the tourist crowds in Old Town, even though you’re really just a fifteen-minute walk from Cathedral Square. The whole area has this wonderfully local vibe where you’ll see neighbors walking their dogs and kids playing in courtyards, which I mean, that’s exactly what I want when I’m trying to actually experience a city rather than just photograph it.

What struck me immediately about this place is how unapologetically quirky it is. You know how some boutique hotels try so hard to be Instagram-perfect that they forget about comfort? Well, this isn’t that. The owners have created something that feels more like staying in an artist friend’s beautifully eccentric home – there are unexpected art pieces tucked into corners, furniture that looks like it has stories to tell, and this wonderful mix of vintage Lithuanian pieces with more contemporary touches. I spent way too much time just wandering around looking at everything. The rooms themselves are all different (I stayed in what I think was called the “Writer’s Room” and honestly, the vintage desk by the window made me want to actually write postcards for the first time in years). Some friends of mine stayed there a few months later and got a completely different setup with this amazing old armoire that dominated half the room in the best possible way.

The 7.1 rating might seem modest, but here’s the thing – this place isn’t trying to compete with the big international chains on Gedimino Avenue with their marble lobbies and army of concierges. It’s doing its own thing, and either you get it or you don’t. The breakfast is simple but good, served in this cozy common area where you’ll probably end up chatting with other guests (mostly Europeans who seem to have found this place through word of mouth rather than booking sites). Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s a residential street, but there’s usually space if you’re not rolling up at rush hour. One small heads up – the building has character, which means you’ll hear footsteps from upstairs sometimes, but it never bothered me much and actually added to the lived-in feeling. What I really appreciated was how the staff – there’s usually just one person at the front desk – actually knew the neighborhood. They pointed me toward this fantastic little café around the corner on Aguonų Street that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me directions to the trolleybus stop that locals use instead of the more obvious tourist routes.

If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Vilnius rather than generically European, and you don’t mind trading some polish for personality, Tatjanos Dvaras hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Tatjanos Dvaras

  • Everything was as we needed at that time! – Maris from Latvia – September 30, 2024 (8/10)

The food was good and for reasonable prices. The property surprised about its look!

What could be improved: It could be a little refreshed. Then everything would be nicer!

  • Very good short stay before the early morning flight – Max from United Kingdom – August 18, 2024 (10/10)

Excellent combination of price, service level, and quality. Even though I have arrived late, I was offered a complex 3-dishes delicious dinner at a very sensible price. Room was big, I was given a choice of bedrooms in fact. For the money I have paid – it was a great stay.

What could be improved: The location is a bit remote, and not an easy drive to Vilnius centre. But if you have a car and not dependant on public transport it could be a great solution for a budget stay.

  • Good – Janeks from Latvia – August 20, 2024 (7/10)

    Atsaucīga saimniece. Labas brokastis.

What could be improved: Nav skaņas izolācijas, liekas, ka nevis kustība notiek gaitenī, bet caur istabiņu. Visi soļi dzirdami. Ir dzirdams, ka kaut kur blakus kāds krāc. Santehnika stipri nobružāta, novecojusi.
