Stikliai Hotel – Relais & Châteaux Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy hotels in my time, but Stikliai Hotel – Relais & Châteaux honestly caught me off guard in the best possible way. You know how sometimes you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this is going to be special”? That’s exactly what happened when I pushed through those heavy wooden doors on Gaono street. The thing is — and this might sound weird — it doesn’t feel like a hotel at first. More like you’re stepping into some wealthy Lithuanian family’s ancestral home, complete with Persian rugs that probably cost more than my car and oil paintings that look like they’ve been hanging there since before Napoleon marched through.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to make a 5-star property feel intimate rather than intimidating. I mean, we’re talking about a Relais & Châteaux property here, so you’d expect some serious luxury, but the staff actually remembers your name after the first day. The rooms — well, mine overlooked this quiet courtyard where you could hear church bells from St. Anne’s in the morning instead of traffic noise. Speaking of which, parking can be a bit tricky since you’re right in the heart of Old Town, but they sort it out for you. The concierge (a guy named Tomas who’s been there forever) actually walked me to my car to show me the best route out when I was leaving, which honestly surprised me.

Here’s what I think sets it apart though — the location is almost ridiculously perfect. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Pilies street where all the amber shops and tourist crowds are, but Gaono itself stays pretty quiet, especially in the evenings. I’d grab coffee at their restaurant in the morning, then wander over to the Gates of Dawn or down toward the river without dealing with any of that hotel shuttle nonsense. The breakfast situation deserves a mention too — they do this thing with local honey and bread that’s baked somewhere nearby (you can smell it in the lobby around 7 AM), and honestly, it’s the kind of detail that makes you want to extend your stay an extra day. The rooms themselves have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort — thick walls that keep everything quiet, but the Wi-Fi actually works and the shower pressure doesn’t disappoint. If you’re coming to Vilnius and want to feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just visiting it, this is where you want to be. Just book early, especially during summer — places like this don’t stay secret for long.

Hotels near me in Vilnius offer convenient access to the historic center, where guests can easily walk to Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Castle, and the famous Gate of Dawn.

Reviews of Stikliai Hotel – Relais & Châteaux

  • Excellent hotel, beautiful city. – Pablo from Chile – August 24, 2025 (10/10)

We really enjoy our stay there. We recommend this hotel. The staff were very nice, the hotel is located in a beautiful area. It has a park in the front. Breakfast was very good.

  • Wonderful – Melita from Slovenia – August 23, 2025 (9/10)

    Location, clean and nice room

What could be improved: Better breakfast

  • Exceptional – Allen from United States – August 21, 2025 (10/10)

The hotel was fabulous. Staff at the front desk and in the breakfast area were fabulous. The Junior Suite was a nice size. Room rate was quite reasonable for the quality. My wife used the fitness facility every day and said it was great. We both used the spa/sauna every night and we loved it.

What could be improved: For some reason, AC was off for the first night (or two) we were there, apparently in the whole hotel. Not sure why because it was a little warm. The hotel turned the AC on after we asked about it. A small thing, but there were not enough hangars for my wife and me in the closet. I asked for more hangars right after we checked in in the early evening and it took until mid morning the next day to get them.

  • Beautiful hotel, large clean room, lovely spa – Suzan from United States – August 21, 2025 (9/10)

We got a junior suite with spa access and it was very roomy with high ceilings, with bright large windows and two air conditioning units. It was very clean with a large bathroom with two sinks with a countertop so it was easier to put me and my husband’s toiletries on there. Is conveniently close to the center of town, but no parking. Closest parking lot were more than 12+ minute walk away, which isn’t a huge issue since we tended to walk everywhere around old town anyway. The spa was wonderful and required advanced booking. then you get the entire spa and pool area to yourself. It is beautifully decorated, and you can have the area for an hour a day. The pool also had a machine that would inject a strong current so that you could swim in that current indefinitely. My husband also loved the bucket that you can pull on to dump very cold water onto your head. It was next to 2 showers in the sauna area.

Breakfast was lovely with the buffet and hot options. and you can eat outside in a beautiful courtyard or indoors.

    Staff was very friendly.

What could be improved: However, during our trip in the Baltic, there were other hotels that were much better at communicating exactly where the city parking lots were rather than a vague set of verbal directions with an X on a map that did not prove to have a parking lot there for overnight parking.

We stayed in all three capitals in the Baltic and a few small towns like Tartu and Parnu. And in all the 7 other hotels we stayed, new bottles of water were provided in the room every day and were always complimentary. Because every other hotel in the region we encountered had a different practice, I was surprised to find that only the water provided the first night was complimentary in a Relais & Chateau hotel that’s supposed to be one of the best in terms of service and quality.

And although the lobby was beautifully decorated, it had a very strong perfume scent every time we entered the lobby.

  • Excellent cozy historical charming hotel in the center of Vilna. – Jacqueline from United States – August 18, 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location in the center of town. Quaint and charming hotel with historic vibe. The glassmakers on the door handle are such a cute touch. Very clean. Comfortable and quiet rooms with all amenities. Great breakfast buffet with excellent service. The gym was reasonably large with reasonable equipment.

What could be improved: There were a few minor things, which one can easily skip, but i will mention because this is a 5-star hotel that prominently brags about the celebrities and heads of state it hosted. The safe in the room did not work when we arrived; we had to ask for help at reception, and they insisted on fixing it as we were heading out (rather than later when we return), making us late. The door to the bathroom needed oiling 🙂 The coffee in the room was powdered coffee rather than nespresso. Finally, some things were a bit unsafe: the cleaners do not put “slippery” signs when they mop. and I saw a server almost fall by slipping on a wet floor one morning. Some steps are not marked and are dark — I almost fell on one. And the elevator door slammed in my husband’s knee as we was maneuvering the suitcases into it when we left.

Otherwise, no complaints: 4.8 stars overall.

  • A genuinely delightful hotel in the Old Jewish quarter of Vilnius. – Adam from United States – August 14, 2025 (10/10)

Hotel Stikliai is beautifully situated in the old Jewish quarter of Vilnius, probably the nicest area to stay in town since it is quite and calm and near the major sights without being on the main drag. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with lots of period details and interesting furniture and art, the staff are enormously helpful and forthcoming, and our room was spacious and lovely. We ate twice at the Tavern, which serves beautifully executed Lithuanian food (don't miss the potato pancakes and salmon!). And I loved the private sauna. A truly fabulous hotel.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Beautiful classic hotel – Johanna from Denmark – August 14, 2025 (8/10)

Great breakfast selection. Suite was large with a comfy couch. Bathroom with a bathtub. Location was excellent. The private spa was wonderful to unwind. Hotel renovated with respect for the original details

What could be improved: When showering in the tub the whole bathroom got very wet. We had an uncomfortable interaction with staff on the last day. Small things.

  • Brilliant stay – Andriuskeviciute from United Kingdom – August 12, 2025 (10/10)

Amazing staff, great breakfast and location.

What could be improved: Everything was great

  • Beautiful hotel in a convenient location – Ronald from United States – August 9, 2025 (10/10)

Historic, gorgeous, architecture, large room & comfortable, double sink

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Great place, great service, great location – totally worth the money – Gwennaelle from Canada – August 1, 2025 (10/10)

room, quality of the breakfast, great staff with great service, the location, the bar and the bakery of the hotel (the win was really good and the macarons are fabulous!! Go and try them!)
