Stebuklas Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Stebuklas – it’s one of those places that grows on you, even if your first impression might be a bit mixed. Tucked away on Giedraičių street in the Šnipiškės district, this 3-star spot isn’t going to wow you with Instagram-worthy lobbies or fancy amenities, but honestly? That’s kind of the point. The neighborhood itself is actually pretty interesting – you’re sort of between the old town charm and the more modern business district, which means you get this weird mix of Soviet-era apartment blocks and trendy cafés that have been popping up over the last few years.

The thing about staying here is that you really feel like you’re experiencing Vilnius the way locals do, not the polished tourist version. I mean, you’ll hear actual Lithuanian conversations in the hallways instead of just English and German tour groups. The rooms are… well, they’re functional. Clean sheets, decent shower pressure (which, trust me, isn’t a given everywhere in this part of town), and windows that actually open – something I always appreciate after too many sealed hotel rooms. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the city, and they know things like which marshrutka will get you to Užupis fastest or where to find a proper pharmacy on Sundays.

You know what really surprised me? How quiet it gets at night, considering you’re still pretty central. I was expecting more street noise, but Giedraičių is residential enough that you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open. The walk to Cathedral Square takes about 20 minutes if you don’t mind the slight uphill trek, or there’s a bus stop literally two blocks away that’ll drop you right in the thick of things. And here’s something the guidebooks won’t tell you – there’s this little bakery called Duonos Namai about five minutes away where locals queue up every morning for fresh rye bread. I ended up going there every day because, honestly, the hotel breakfast is pretty basic.

Is it perfect? No way – the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, and don’t expect room service or a concierge desk. But if you’re the kind of traveler who wants to stay somewhere authentic without spending tourist prices, and you don’t mind a place that feels more like a comfortable neighborhood hotel than a slick international chain, then this actually works really well. The value is solid for what you get, especially considering how expensive central Vilnius has gotten lately. Just don’t expect luxury – think of it more like staying at a friend’s practical, no-nonsense place where you can recharge between actually exploring the city.

Apartments in Vilnius provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Lithuanian markets and cook with regional Baltic specialties.

Reviews of Stebuklas

  • i would not recomend to stay at this place – Oskars from Latvia – July 13, 2024 (5/10)

location was good and host was polite

What could be improved: room i hooked suposed to be 12 Square meters but it was maximum 6. there was only one toilet for 4 rooms. there was no towels. breakfast was terrible. one piece of bread without any butter, croisant and banana. room temperature was very hot- no air conditioning.

  • Good place – Vi from Finland – January 2, 2025 (6/10)

    Location

  • Fair – Tomas from Lithuania – July 13, 2024 (5/10)

Interior design is interesting, cozy, antique furnitures, cute paintings. The host is very nice, caring and will help you with anything you ask. Host makes very generous breakfast and offer you coffee, if you skip breakfast he will leave you sandwich to eat later.

What could be improved: At first I got the wrong room, but this was fixed quickly. since it was cold weather season, host had to prepare a fireplace in the room, which seems nice at first, but I had to breath smoke whole week since there is quite poor ventilation and windows don’t open. And he needs to go into room to fire up fireplace to keep room warm during night. There’s one shower/toilet in whole building so you have to share it with 4-5 people/rooms. Price is cheap so it’s decent value for money and you get free parking so wouldn’t say it’s bad, i imagine experience during summer would have been better.

  • Not bad! – Swagata from Ireland – May 5, 2024 (6/10)

    Location was very convenient

What could be improved: Very small room! Almost claustrophobic! Specially the attic rooms that we stayed in!

  • Not so bad – Larry from Sweden – October 28, 2024 (5/10)

    The bad

What could be improved: In the old house it s very cold and why 4 euro for the taxes, taxes for what?Breakfast is just a sandwich

  • Needs a better description – Mark from Germany – July 26, 2024 (5/10)

The house was super cool and unique and the location was close to the city 🙂
The owner/host was extremely accommodating and nice, he made sure everything was satisfactory
And they served a cute breakfast in the mornings

And the bed was great !

What could be improved: The description of the property was not very accurate, I think Booking.com should look in to this.
It says there is a private bathroom with you room, this is not true, you have to share it with 4other rooms, now this wasn’t something that bothered me much, but it meant that it wasn’t very clean (not the owners fault) and if the shared bathroom situation would be stated in the description of property, then people would know what they are coming to..
other than that, the neighbour was quite aggressive and confronting, but this also not something that bothers me much, but I can imagine some would be very uncomfortable with it..
all this can be fixed with a more accurate description

Also the towels provided were small and smelly
And you could not open the windows in the room

But keep in mind, this a historical house, you can’t expect top notch modern quality on everything

I am also of the opinion that it should be a little cheaper with all this in mind

  • ok – Eva from Lithuania – May 2, 2024 (5/10)

The location is perfect, Breakfast is not necessary, in my oponion is better to have it optional. The host was very kind.

What could be improved: Either I did a mistake while filtering the places either the host made a mistake while filling info about their place. I needed A room with WC and kitchen, but that were SHARED facilities ! I was staying with Two yearsold and the stairs looked dangerous, I do not recomend this place to say with children !

  • Exceptional – Dmytro from Ukraine – June 1, 2024 (10/10)

Very nice and pleasant attitude of the owner. Delicious breakfast and close to the city center

  • Wonderful – Ullrich from Germany – July 8, 2025 (9/10)

This room is in a wooden house ( protected herirage) in a street with traditional wooden houses, just next to the modern (and beautiful) business towers at the northern fringe of the inner city.
It is a wonderful stylistic contrast..
The style of the house is that of a rustic 'log cabin'.
The hosts are friendly, helpful and sympathetic.

The site is excellent: It is about 30 minutes walk to the inner city (university).
Shops and a traditional good market are near by.

  • It was not a good experience for me so I do not recommend it to anyone – Mustafa from Poland – October 27, 2024 (1/10)

    only Location was good.

What could be improved: The room shown in the pictures was different from the room delivered to me. There was no heating and the insulation was bad. It was extremely cold inside the room and there was no difference between sleeping in a house or on a park bench. There was no locker for main door so its mean everyone can go inside.
