I’ll be honest – when I first spotted #stayhere – Elegant & Light 1BDR apartment Vilnius Old Town tucked away on Sodų gatvė, I wasn’t expecting much from the quirky hashtag name. But you know what? Sometimes the best places surprise you, and this little gem absolutely delivered on that promise of being both elegant and light.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Vilnius at all. Sodų street is one of those quiet cobblestone lanes that tourists often miss, but it puts you right in the heart of Old Town without the constant foot traffic you get closer to Cathedral Square. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Pilies street with all its cafes and amber shops, but when you step inside this apartment, it feels like you’ve found your own private sanctuary. The morning light streaming through those tall windows is something else – honestly, I spent way too much time just sitting with my coffee watching the way it shifted across the wooden floors throughout the day.

What really struck me about this place was how they managed to nail that tricky balance between historic charm and modern comfort. The apartment feels genuinely elegant without being stuffy or overdone, and there’s this airy quality that’s hard to find in Old Town buildings (let’s face it, some of these medieval places can feel pretty cave-like). The bed was actually comfortable – not always a given in European apartments – and the kitchen had everything I needed without feeling cramped. I particularly loved the little details, like the way they’d arranged books on local history and the quality of the linens. You can tell someone who actually cares about hospitality set this place up, not just someone trying to maximize rental income.

The check-in was refreshingly smooth, and my host gave me some solid recommendations that weren’t just the typical tourist spots – including this little bakery around the corner on Aušros Vartų that locals line up at every morning. Noise wasn’t really an issue either, which surprised me given how central everything is. Sure, you’ll hear the occasional late-night reveler wandering home, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway – everything worth seeing is within walking distance. I ended up extending my stay an extra night because, well, when you find a place that just works, why mess with a good thing?
