You know what? Stay Express is one of those places that completely surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up, my expectations weren’t exactly sky-high. It’s got that classic mid-tier hotel look from the outside, nothing fancy, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it that I actually appreciated after dealing with some overly pretentious places lately.

The thing that really won me over was how genuinely comfortable everything felt once I got inside. The lobby has this warm, lived-in quality – not sterile like so many chain hotels, but not trying too hard to be boutique either. Check-in was refreshingly quick (the front desk staff actually seemed like they wanted to be there), and I was in my room within minutes. Speaking of the rooms, they’re honestly better than you’d expect for a 3-star spot. The bed was properly firm – none of that sinking-into-quicksand nonsense – and the shower had actual water pressure, which you know is always a gamble these days. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s clean, functional, and there’s enough space to actually unpack without playing Tetris with your luggage.

What really sets this place apart though is the little stuff that shows someone’s paying attention. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (revolutionary concept, I know), there are plenty of outlets by the bed for all your devices, and – this might sound weird – but the ice machine on every floor was always stocked and actually worked. You don’t realize how much those tiny conveniences matter until you’re staying somewhere that doesn’t have them. The location turned out to be pretty solid too, though I’ll admit it took me a day or two to figure out the best routes to get around. Once you know the area, you’re actually well-positioned for both business stuff and exploring, without being stuck right in the chaos of the main tourist drag. Parking was straightforward (and free, which honestly shocked me), and the neighborhood feels safe for walking around, even in the evenings. I stayed during what I’d guess was a pretty busy time, but the place never felt overcrowded or chaotic – they seem to have their operations down to a science. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches or Instagram-worthy amenities, but Stay Express delivers exactly what it promises: a solid, comfortable stay without any unpleasant surprises or your wallet taking a beating. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
