ShortStopStudent Overview
You know what? ShortStopStudent is exactly what it sounds like – a no-nonsense place that gets the job done without any pretense. I stumbled across this spot in Zverynas while helping a friend find decent accommodation near the university, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about Studentų street is that it’s in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Old Town to walk there (maybe 15-20 minutes if you’re not dawdling), but you’re actually in one of Vilnius’s more residential neighborhoods. Zverynas has this almost village-like feel – tree-lined streets, locals walking their dogs, small cafes that aren’t overrun with tourists. I mean, you’ll hear Lithuanian being spoken more than English here, which I actually love. The hotel itself sits quietly on the street, and parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in the city center. The check-in was straightforward – no fuss, just friendly staff who clearly know their regulars and seem genuinely happy to help newcomers figure out the neighborhood.
What really works about this place is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy – think good mattresses, decent shower pressure, and windows that actually open (trust me, this matters in summer). I’ve stayed in places that cost twice as much with half the practicality. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM when students are rushing off to classes, but if you’re more of a leisurely morning person, 9:30 onwards is much calmer. There’s something charming about the mix of guests here – you’ve got students obviously, but also families visiting kids at university, business travelers who prefer staying somewhere with character rather than a generic chain hotel, and the occasional tourist who’s figured out that Zverynas is actually a gem. The neighborhood really comes alive in the evenings, especially around the small park nearby where locals gather, and honestly, that’s when you realize you’re experiencing Vilnius like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through.

Reviews of ShortStopStudent
An excellent stay with a superb host. – Louise from United Kingdom – August 15, 2025 (9/10)
We loved the self catering aspect we got there. The place was lovely and clean. The host was excellent and very attentive and was always available when we needed some guidance. The bed was comfy and the location was close to a big shopping mall that sold everything you could ever need.
What could be improved: Just missing a dust pan and another pan to cook in or maybe a frying pan.Good for travelling on a budget and not planning to stay in the room much – Noah from United Kingdom – June 23, 2025 (7/10)
Close to the city, clean room, powerful shower
What could be improved: Could of done with more cooking stuff like a saucepan and more bowels, would be nice to have free wifi included as well and more towelsWonderful – Daniel from Poland – May 8, 2025 (9/10)
Clean, easy to access and fast internet.
A good base to explore the city – Darren from United Kingdom – July 7, 2025 (9/10)
The location and amenities
What could be improved: Hassle with no physical staff – deposit to stay and no physical way of paying city tax. Guess it’s a good idea to read the T’s and C’sGood but questioning – Marko from Denmark – June 22, 2025 (8/10)
The location and the room. Was what i expected.
What could be improved: The communication with the host. Very odd communication. A few times afraid if all will be okay as the communication is iregular and unpredictable.Good – Lena from Russia – July 4, 2025 (7/10)
Идеальное расположение, в номере все новое, и даже был завтрак.
What could be improved: Все ок.Geras kainos ir kokybės santykis, kartosiu. – Marius from Lithuania – July 29, 2025 (10/10)
Pusryčiai, kaip už tokią kainą, labai geri: kiaušiniai, užpilami makaronai, jogurtai, miusli, sultys… tobula. Švaru, tvarkinga, arti miesto centro. Kainos ir kokybės santykis geras.
Puikiai! – Inga from Lithuania – May 10, 2025 (10/10)
Švaru, tvarkinga, patogi lokacija, lengvi pusryčiai, viešnagei įpusėjus buvo pasuteirauta ar nieko netrūksta, klientui rodomas dėmesys džiugina. Pasigedau keptuvės ir lygintuvo, manau šeimininkai greitu laiku tuo pasirūpins 🙂
10/10 – Marius from Lithuania – April 19, 2025 (10/10)
Lengvai randama, arti miesto centras, yra daug vietos automobilio parkavimui. Puikiai 🙂
What could be improved: Viskas puikiai, sugrįšiu 🙂Bad – Lajauskas from Lithuania – July 19, 2025 (1/10)
Gera vieta.
What could be improved: Nerekomenduoju.
