Shakespeare Boutique Hotel Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Shakespeare Boutique Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. But wow, this place completely surprised me in the best way possible. You know how some hotels try too hard to be “boutique” and end up feeling pretentious? This isn’t one of those places. There’s something genuinely charming about how they’ve balanced that literary theme without making it feel like a cheesy tourist trap.
The rooms actually feel like someone put thought into them – I mean real thought, not just throwing some fancy pillows around and calling it a day. The beds are seriously comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have this perfect water pressure that you don’t always get at smaller properties. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was, even though you’re right in the heart of things. The walls must be well-insulated because I never heard my neighbors, which honestly can make or break a stay for me. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing too – not in that rehearsed way where they’re clearly following a script, but like they actually want you to have a good time. Check-in was smooth, and they had some solid local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots everyone suggests.
The whole vibe here hits that sweet spot between feeling special and still being comfortable. You’ll find little Shakespeare references scattered around, but it’s done tastefully – more like literary nods than overwhelming decoration. The common areas have this cozy, almost living room feel where you actually want to hang out with a coffee or glass of wine. And speaking of wine, they’ve got a decent selection available that won’t break the bank. The location really works well too – you can walk to plenty of restaurants and attractions without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of all the chaos. Parking was easier than I expected, which is always a relief when you’re traveling. I’d definitely stay here again, and that’s saying something because I usually like to try new places. It’s one of those spots that just gets the details right without making a big show about it.

Great hotel with lovely, helpful staff. I arrived after midnight due to a late flight and they sent all the information to enable me to check-in with absolutely no issue. The breakfast is a mixture of buffet (fruits / croissants etc) and an included hot meal from the menu which includes fabulous options from local cuisine eggs to pancakes to a Full English.
The location is perfect, right in the Old Town and an easy walk from all the main sights. The team at reception were very helpful and stored my bag for me on check-out day until I was ready to leave for my flight in the evening.
I had the single room Aristotle which was perfect for just me. Good shower with lovely included toiletries. The bed was warm and comfortable and the room had an a/c unit for the hot weather.Janet from United Kingdom (9/10)
