Relais & Châteaux Stikliai Hotel Overview

When I first walked into Relais & Châteaux Stikliai Hotel, I honestly wasn’t prepared for how much character this place has packed into what’s essentially a boutique property in Vilnius’s Old Town. You know what struck me immediately? The way they’ve managed to blend medieval architecture with genuine luxury without making it feel like some theme park version of history.

The hotel is tucked right into the cobblestone maze of the old city – I mean, you’re literally steps from Cathedral Square, but somehow it feels like this quiet sanctuary once you’re inside. The building itself dates back centuries, and you can actually feel it in the thick stone walls and these gorgeous arched doorways that lead between rooms. What I really appreciated though was how they’ve done the renovations. The rooms have all the modern stuff you actually need (the WiFi is solid, thank god, and the bathrooms are beautifully updated), but they haven’t stripped away the soul of the place. My room had these original wooden beams overhead and windows that looked out onto a tiny courtyard that felt completely removed from the city bustle.

The restaurant is where this place really shines, honestly. They’re doing this elevated Lithuanian cuisine that I didn’t even know I wanted to try, but the chef clearly knows what they’re doing. I had this incredible venison dish that used local ingredients in ways that felt both traditional and completely contemporary. The wine list leans heavily European, which makes sense, and the sommelier actually knows the region well enough to recommend some Lithuanian wines I’d never heard of but absolutely loved. Service throughout the hotel has that relaxed professionalism that’s hard to find – attentive without being hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious. Check-in was smooth, and they genuinely seemed to care about making sure I knew the neighborhood well enough to explore on my own.

Location-wise, you really can’t do better if you want to experience Vilnius properly. I could walk to Gediminas Tower in about ten minutes, and some of the best local restaurants and bars are practically around the corner. The streets can get a bit lively on weekend evenings – this is the heart of the old city after all – but the hotel’s thick walls keep things pretty quiet inside. Parking isn’t really an issue since they handle it for you, which honestly saves a lot of headache in those narrow medieval streets. What really sold me on the place though was how it manages to feel both grand and intimate at the same time. It’s clearly luxury level (that 9.4 rating isn’t a fluke), but it doesn’t have that cold, corporate hotel feeling that sometimes comes with five-star properties. This feels more like staying in some perfectly appointed historic residence where someone just happens to take exceptionally good care of you.

Vilnius’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with historic charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Lithuanian capital.

Reviews of Relais & Châteaux Stikliai Hotel

  • Johannes from Spain (10/10)

The hotel is located in the center of the old town, with everything on walking distance. Five star comfort in old historic buildings and a wonderful helpful staff. Rooms and bathrooms are nicely renovated and provide modern comfort. The breakfast buffet is elaborate and many items can be ordered, freshly prepared. We booked the SPA facilities for exclusive use, after walking the city in the cold. Pleasant and relaxing experience. Taxi from the airport is about Euro 20 but alternatively buses run very frequent for euro 1 pp. During summer breakfast is served in an open courtyard.

The hotel was spotless, quaint and it is not surprising that so many dignitaries and celebrities stayed there with photographic evidence and testimonials on display.
Superb breakfast and very friendly staff, especially Atena.
Located in the medieval centre, it was close to the Divine Mercy shrine where the original painting is on display.

Great hotel in a very heart of old town of Vilnius city. Absolutely quiet and comfortable stay. Nice and respectful staff. The hotel and the rooms are well decorated with the attitude to every detail. The room was spatious and clean, with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Good sound isolation between rooms and absolutely no noise from outside the window, which we left open all night.
