Honestly, I almost walked right past Old Town Hideaway the first time I was looking for it on Bernardinų Street – and that’s actually part of its charm. This little 3-star place sits so perfectly tucked into the medieval streetscape that it feels like it’s been there for centuries, even though the interiors are refreshingly modern. You know what struck me immediately? The way they’ve managed to keep that authentic Old Town vibe without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum.

The location is what really makes this place shine, I mean, you’re literally a two-minute stroll from Cathedral Square, and Pilies Street with all its amber shops and cozy cafés is right around the corner. What the booking sites don’t tell you is that Bernardinų is actually one of the quieter cobblestone streets – you get all the medieval atmosphere without the constant stream of tour groups that plague some of the main drags. I stayed here during the White Night festival in June, and while the Old Town was absolutely buzzing, the hotel itself remained this peaceful little sanctuary where you could actually get some sleep.

The rooms themselves are honestly better than you’d expect for a 3-star – clean lines, comfortable beds, and these lovely little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed (typical for Old Town buildings where every square meter counts), and the Wi-Fi actually works properly, which isn’t always a given in these thick-walled historic buildings. What I really appreciated was the genuine helpfulness of the staff – they gave me specific recommendations for this fantastic Georgian restaurant on Stiklių Street that I never would have found otherwise, and they actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the crowds when walking to Užupis. That 8.9 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it absolutely delivers on being a comfortable, well-located base for exploring one of Europe’s most underrated capitals. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on great meals and experiences than on hotel amenities you won’t use, this is exactly the kind of place you want to book.

  What could be improved: Demeaning and disrespectful staff which partly ruined the stay: first the instruction they sent didnt match the boxes for keys and since I arrived too late, I couldnt find a right box, so I just left and slept at my friend even though the night was already paid. Second, when I wrote through booking com I received just insults , how all of it is my fault, how confused I am, nobody else had a problem etc (the box name didnt match the apartment name and the number did not match the number, I did not check all the boxes due to decency since its not mine) Then in the morning other person (possibly owner) called to blame me again and gave shit for "waking the staff" at night even though I just wrote through booking and the staff gave their whatsapp at night themselves. I felt humiliated and disrespected.

  El apartamento es fenomenal y muy bonito, pero los dueños del apartamento son demasiado groseros, me cobraron por un daño , para según ellos, porque tuve un incidente y sangre durmiendo y quedó en las sábanas y no contentos con eso, me amenazaron que si no pagaba llamaba a las autoridades, cuando jamás negué que iba a pagar el dinero, son unos groseros

  What could be improved: Es war leider sehr laut und da es im Erdgeschoss auf eine belebte Straße ging mussten wir die Fenster mit Vorhängen verschließen … daher auch sehr dunkel und leider nicht sehr sauber.
