Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Mykoliukas tucked into that narrow stretch of Šv. Mykolo gatvė, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is pretty understated, which honestly turned out to be part of its charm. You’re literally steps from the Cathedral Square (I mean, you can hear the bells in the morning), but somehow this little three-star manages to feel like a secret that only locals know about. The Old Town cobblestones can be a bit tricky with luggage – I learned that the hard way – but once you’re inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in the more touristy spots.

What really got me was how the staff actually knew the neighborhood. Not just the obvious stuff like where to find Gediminas Tower, but they pointed me toward this tiny courtyard café about two minutes away that I never would’ve discovered otherwise. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Old Town Vilnius, after all, where buildings date back centuries – but they’ve done something clever with the space that makes it feel larger than it is. I stayed on the third floor and you know what? The morning light coming through those windows, especially in late spring, is absolutely perfect. There’s no air conditioning (typical for this part of the city), but the thick stone walls keep things surprisingly cool even in summer.

The thing that struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the heart of everything. I guess being on a smaller side street helps, but I was expecting way more noise from the weekend crowds heading to the bars around Town Hall Square. Actually, the only sounds I really noticed were the occasional footsteps on cobblestones and – this might sound weird – but there’s something almost musical about that. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there. It’s not trying to be fancy or impress anyone with marble lobbies or whatever, but everything just… works. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually functioned properly (not always a given in these old buildings), and they had this local honey at breakfast that I’m still thinking about months later. If you’re the type who needs a big hotel with a pool and room service, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re staying in someone’s carefully restored Old Town apartment – someone with excellent taste and attention to detail – then Mykoliukas is exactly what you’re looking for.

  Next to the St. Anne's Church and just a few minutes walk to the Palace or the university. Plenty of restaurants and cafes are in the neighborhood.

  This was a wonderful experience. Our hosts were the most friendly, warm, interesting and helpful people, who made our time in Vilnius so memorable. They collected us at the airport, even though it was very late at night. The apartment was ultra clean, spacious, comfortable and so close to many sights in the Old Town. The apartment even had a beautiful sculpture made by the host looking down on us. Thank you so very much!
