Moon Garden Old Town Hotel Overview
You know what struck me first about Moon Garden Old Town Hotel? It’s tucked away on Bazilijonų Street in this perfect spot where you can actually hear the cobblestones under your feet instead of traffic noise. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, but somehow it feels removed from all the tourist chaos that happens closer to Cathedral Square.
The building itself has this understated elegance – it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, if that makes sense. When I walked in, the lobby had this warm, lived-in feeling with dark wood and soft lighting that actually made me want to linger instead of just rushing to my room. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward (no upselling, thank god), and the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. They pointed me toward this little café around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise – honestly, some of the best coffee I had in Lithuania.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but there are these thoughtful touches that show someone actually thinks about what travelers need. Good blackout curtains (crucial when it stays light until 10 PM in summer), proper reading lights, and – this might sound silly – but the bathroom actually had enough counter space for your stuff. I stayed in a room facing the courtyard, which was blissfully quiet at night, though I imagine the street-facing ones might catch some noise from late-night revelers wandering back from the bars on Pilies Street. The whole area gets pretty lively on weekend nights, but in a charming way, not obnoxious.
What I really appreciated was how walkable everything became from here. You’re maybe a three-minute stroll from St. Anne’s Church (the Gothic one that supposedly made Napoleon want to carry it back to Paris), and all those winding medieval streets with the amber shops and cozy restaurants are right at your doorstep. I found myself coming back to the hotel between wandering sessions just because it felt like a genuine base camp rather than just a place to crash. The location also meant I could easily walk to Gediminas Tower for sunrise without dealing with any transportation headaches – though fair warning, those cobblestone streets can be a bit treacherous in heels or after a few drinks at one of the Old Town’s wine bars.
Parking can be tricky in this part of the city (actually, scratch that – parking is basically impossible), but the hotel staff helped arrange something nearby. If you’re flying in, just take a taxi from the airport and embrace the car-free life for a few days. Trust me, once you’re here, you won’t want to drive through these narrow streets anyway.

Reviews of Moon Garden Old Town Hotel
Comfortable and stylish, in a great location for further adventures – Adam from United Kingdom – August 17, 2025 (8/10)
Right on the edge of the old town, so you got the vibe without being surrounded only by tourists, some nice local restaurants nearby. Also closer to the central bus and train stations which was great for trips to kaunas and trakai.
What could be improved: Rooms were tidied but not necessarily cleaned daily, we had a weird experience coming back to the hotel finding half a made bed. Didn't bother us though, we hadn't requested a cleaning. But it was a little odd.Very Good – Noel from Ireland – August 13, 2025 (8/10)
Good location and a great restaurant across the road
What could be improved: Air conditioning was broken
Don’t be in a rush if looking for cooked breakfast as service is slowLiked it a lot! – Gunta from Latvia – August 2, 2025 (9/10)
It was a lovely and cozy place. The location was great!
What could be improved: There were no outlets next to the beds and the lamps that run on battery were out of battery, we didn’t have the kind of charger needed, so we couldn’t use the little lamps.Wonderful place to stay in Vilnius – Fiona from Sweden – July 31, 2025 (10/10)
Everything is perfect, friendly staff. Room is clean and big. Location is super close to the Old Town. Take 9min walk to central station. Highly recommend! I will book it again when I come back Vilnius.
What could be improved: NothingGreat location and exceptional reception staff – Simon from United Kingdom – July 20, 2025 (8/10)
We thought the reception staff were exceptional. They were friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help. The location was perfect for access to The Old Town, bus stop, train station and airport. There was a calm atmosphere in reception and our room, in the rear on floor 3 was extremely quiet. A great choice.
What could be improved: Rooms were serviced only between 1300 and 1700 which we found a little inconvenient after being out all morning in The Old Town. It is nice to return to a made up room.Exceptional – Iche from Israel – July 20, 2025 (10/10)
Exceptional service, great location, more than a fair price, definitely gonna come back when in town

What could be improved: Can’t think of anything worth mentioning. It’s not the ritz but does what you need.Great stay, location and staff – Priya from United Kingdom – June 25, 2025 (9/10)
Room and location
What could be improved: Not much, room needs a ful length mirror. We didn't choose breakfast because we needed more plantbased options.Great place to stay and would definitely stay there again. – Simon from United Kingdom – June 24, 2025 (8/10)
