What really got me about this place is how it manages to feel boutique without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The whole property has this artistic, slightly bohemian energy – honestly, the name “Jamaika” starts to make perfect sense once you’re inside, though I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe it’s the relaxed atmosphere, or the way the design elements feel curated by someone with actual taste rather than a corporate decorator. The rooms have character, and I mean real character – not the fake “quirky” stuff you see at chain boutiques. Each space feels different, which can be hit or miss depending on what you get, but that’s part of the charm.

Being right in the Old Town means you’re basically walking distance from everything that matters – Pilies street with all its cafes and shops is just a few minutes away, and you can easily wander over to Cathedral Square or up to Gediminas Tower without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated though is that Šopeno street itself stays relatively quiet, especially at night. You get that perfect balance where you’re in the thick of things during the day but can actually sleep without drunk tourists stumbling around outside your window at 2 AM. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of town (actually, scratch that – parking is always a puzzle in Old Town), but the hotel staff seemed pretty knowledgeable about the best nearby options.

I’ll be honest, this isn’t a place where you’re going to get pampered with spa services or a fancy concierge desk, and the 7.9 rating probably reflects that reality. Some of the fixtures show their age, and if you’re the type who needs everything perfectly polished, you might notice a few rough edges. But here’s the thing – those imperfections somehow add to the authenticity rather than detract from it. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests had a good experience, not just going through the motions. They knew the neighborhood well and had solid recommendations that went beyond the obvious tourist spots. Plus, there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels like it has a personality rather than just checking boxes on a corporate brand standard. If you’re looking for a place that captures some of Vilnius’s creative spirit while keeping you right in the heart of the medieval city, Jamaika @ Shopen delivers in ways that matter more than star ratings.

  What could be improved: Although hostel was quiet, there was a lot of noise outside in the morning because of some roadwork I guess. Also, the room wasn't completely dark at night, so bring sleep mask if you're sensitive to light.

  The personnel was really nice and welcoming. The rooms were divided into boys and girls rooms. The bed was super comfy, I truly slept like a baby!! The toilet was okay, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need and has tables and chairs for you to sit and eat. The showers are nice too, there's even one shower with a drier and a mirror. Overall the stay was super nice and totally worth the price.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside would be the ventilation in the kitchen, as the smell wasn't the freshest.

  Very close to Vilnius Bus station, just about 2-3 minutes walk. A little farther from the Old Town (about 2KM) but definitely walkable. There’s a kitchen where you can do light cooking and fridge to store your food. The place is generally clean (also maybe because there’s not a lot of people during my stay). WiFi was good and stable. Towels provided. Toilets are clean, shower rooms maybe need a little bit of deep cleaning. Also thank you for letting me check in early. Much appreciated.
