Islandijos gatvė Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Islandijos gatvė, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked into this quiet residential street in Vilnius Old Town, and the building has that understated Baltic charm that doesn’t scream “hotel” at first glance. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special.

The thing about staying on Islandijos gatvė is that you’re actually living like a local for a few days. I mean, you’re literally on a street where people hang their laundry and walk their dogs, but somehow you’re also just a five-minute stroll from Cathedral Square and all the tourist madness. The Old Town cobblestones can be a bit rough on your feet (pack comfortable shoes, trust me), but there’s something magical about hearing church bells echo off medieval walls when you’re having your morning coffee. The hotel itself – well, it’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy. My room had these thick curtains that actually blocked out the early Lithuanian summer sunrise, which was a blessing since the sun comes up ridiculously early in June. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping you figure out the city, not just pushing tourist traps.

What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the heart of things. During the day, you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard and maybe some construction (Vilnius is always renovating something historic), but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. The neighborhood has this lived-in quality – there’s a small grocery store around the corner where locals shop, and I found myself nodding hello to the same people each morning. Honestly, that 8.9 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a couple nights. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works well, the beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in boutique hotels), and the location gives you this perfect balance of being central but not overwhelmed by tour groups. If you’re someone who likes to explore on foot and wants to feel connected to the actual city rather than just passing through it, this place gets it right.

Best hotels in Vilnius range from charming boutique properties in the baroque Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of the Neris River and Gediminas Tower.

The location is perfect. The apartment is very comfortable and clean. The street is a bit noisy because it's an area full of charming cafes and restaurants, but both bedrooms overlook the backyard, so it's not a problem.

  • Our family enjoyed this apartment. Well located, – Inese from Netherlands – August 29, 2024 (10/10)

Good location, good apartment, everything as expected. Free parking in the yard. Reccomend!

What could be improved: If you want to cook there, bring your oil.
    Pans are small.
In summer nights it can be noisy, because of nearest bars on the street.

  • Exceptional – Oksana from Estonia – August 12, 2024 (10/10)

Very spacious apartment in the very centre. The photos don't give it justice for how big the rooms actually are. The place was sparkling clean, with both shower and the amazing bathtub. It was quiet in the bedrooms during the evening/ night because even given that the apartment is on a lively street, the bedrooms' windows go into a nice inner yard with trees.

What could be improved: I don't have anything negative to say.

  • Highly recommend this property and definitely will come back – Antonina from United Kingdom – May 25, 2024 (10/10)

Everything was exceptional! Great location, fully equipped newly renovated apartment

What could be improved: It was too noisy on Friday night but probably, it’s quieter on other days
