You know what struck me first about In Astra? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you – and somehow that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star property, but honestly, it punches way above its weight class. The moment I walked into the lobby, there was this understated elegance that felt refreshingly authentic rather than flashy.

The rooms are actually quite thoughtful – whoever designed them clearly understood that travelers want comfort without the unnecessary frills. The beds are properly firm (thank god, because I’m tired of sinking into marshmallow mattresses), and the lighting is warm enough that you don’t feel like you’re living in a sterile box. What really got me though was the attention to small details… like having enough outlets near the bed, and blackout curtains that actually block light. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed – everything’s where it should be, and the water pressure is solid. I stayed on the fourth floor and it was surprisingly quiet, even though there seemed to be a fair bit of activity in the common areas.

Speaking of which, the communal spaces have this relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger. The lobby doubles as a casual hangout spot where you’ll find a mix of business travelers catching up on emails and tourists planning their next move. Staff here are genuinely helpful without being overly formal – they’ll give you real recommendations, not just the tourist trap suggestions. I noticed they seem to know their regular guests by name, which says something about the kind of place this is. Check-in was smooth and quick, and they were flexible about early arrival which saved my entire travel day. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (I tested it everywhere because, well, priorities), and there’s a decent coffee setup in the morning that doesn’t taste like burnt water. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy infinity pools, but In Astra delivers exactly what you need for a comfortable stay without any of the pretentious nonsense. The 8.5 rating makes complete sense to me – it’s the kind of place you’d happily book again because you know exactly what you’re getting, and what you’re getting is pretty damn good.

  What I really like about this hotel are the location and the staff, as well as the quite large room with a comfortable bed.

  Location is really handy. Close to the main bus station and with bus lines to the airport. You can walk all to the center of the city. There is bars and groceries around.
