HelloVilniusHostel Overview
I’ll be honest, HelloVilniusHostel isn’t trying to impress anyone with fancy marble lobbies or gold-plated everything – and honestly, that’s exactly why I ended up loving this place. Tucked away on Sodų Street right in the heart of Old Town, it’s got this laid-back vibe that feels more like crashing at a friend’s apartment than staying at some corporate hotel chain. The building itself has that weathered European charm you can’t fake, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that the people running it actually care about creating something different rather than just filling beds.
What really struck me was how the place manages to feel both intimate and social at the same time. The common areas have this organic flow – you know how some hostels try too hard to force that “backpacker community” feeling? This isn’t that. People naturally end up chatting over coffee in the morning or comparing notes about which bars on Pilies Street are worth hitting up. The rooms themselves are simple but thoughtfully put together, with enough personality to feel unique without being cluttered. I mean, you’re not getting luxury linens here, but everything’s clean and functional, and honestly, when you’re spending your days wandering through Užupis or exploring the cathedral square, you mostly just need a comfortable place to crash. The location is pretty unbeatable though – you can stumble back from the bars in the old town without needing to figure out taxis or night buses, which is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience Vilnius properly.
Now look, it’s not perfect – with a 6.4 rating, you’re not walking into the Ritz, and sometimes the hot water takes a minute to kick in, especially if you’re showering during peak hours. But there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and will point you toward that little Georgian restaurant on Stiklių Street or tell you which nights the local music venues are worth checking out. During summer, Old Town can get pretty touristy, but because HelloVilniusHostel sits just slightly off the main drag, you get that authentic neighborhood feel without being completely removed from the action. If you’re the type of traveler who values character over corporate polish and wants to stay somewhere that feels connected to the actual city rather than some sanitized hotel bubble, this place makes a lot of sense. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge – expect something more genuine than that.
Exploring Vilnius offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Lithuania’s cultural heart, from its UNESCO-listed baroque old town to its vibrant contemporary arts scene and beautiful Baltic atmosphere.

Reviews of HelloVilniusHostel
Good – Juan from United States – October 24, 2024 (7/10)
The lady was very sweet, kind.
Decent kitchen.
What could be improved: Is a bit scary.
Owner told us to take anything value with us because “everyone steals.” So we walked with our bags in the town. People that stay there are vagrants and odd folks, some have bad manners. Overall not a bad hostel but could have better enforcement of the rules, def do not recommend you stay unless everything else is taken.Good owner and place but need to improve bed size and some people need to stop snoring. – Göktuğ from Turkey – March 5, 2023 (7/10)
The owner was very helpful, even when I woke her up at 1.30AM. Also the location was easily accessible and near important things like supermarkets too.
What could be improved: Some people were snoring. Also the beds were a bit short for tall people. I'm 184cm and was not able to fit to the bed easily.Very comfortable, but should be also food and drinks for buying 24/7 and stuff a bit faster. – Maksim from Israel – October 31, 2022 (7/10)
Clean, nice location
What could be improved: Took too long to check in (about half an hour), only wending machines, no food or even tea/coffee to buy at night.Good – Serg_ykz from Ireland – August 5, 2025 (7/10)
Perfect place to stay for 1 night
Fair – Eugeniy from Belarus – August 5, 2025 (5/10)
Location is great, nice lady at the reception.
What could be improved: I saw cockroaches in the toilet, so definitely, there were issues with hygiene there.Cozy but lots hiden costs – Kanstanstin from Germany – August 4, 2025 (7/10)
Close to the main train station. Nice room.
What could be improved: Lots additional cost: you need to pay for late checking, lower bed, towel etc.Nice location – Rik from Netherlands – June 10, 2025 (7/10)
The location was close to the railway station and main bus station
What could be improved: Toilets where a bit small, but they where clean.Good – Bini from United Kingdom – January 23, 2025 (7/10)
The Hostel is conveniently located as it is near city centre.
What could be improved: They charge for everything & The Hostel was very cold.Ok – Ivan from Lithuania – December 21, 2024 (6/10)
The location was great and the bed was comfortable
What could be improved: They ask me to pay extra 5€ for arriving late when in the messages they told me to pay just 3€. I just arrived late and wanted to sleep so no way to discuss. Additionally, I don’t know why, in the room I was sleeping the light was turned on whole night, it was uncomfortablePleasant – Hussain from Oman – December 6, 2024 (6/10)
Nice appreciated
