You know what caught me off guard about Halės Self Check-in Guest House? Walking up to this converted building on Pylimo gatvė, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but sometimes those assumptions get pleasantly flipped on their head. The whole self check-in thing actually works really well here, which I was skeptical about at first (I mean, what if something goes wrong at 11 PM?), but they’ve got it figured out with clear instructions and responsive WhatsApp support.

The location is pretty solid – you’re right in that sweet spot where Old Town tourist chaos meets actual Vilnius life. Pylimo street has this great mix of local cafés and shops that aren’t trying too hard to charm visitors, plus you can walk to Cathedral Square in about eight minutes if you cut through the smaller streets. I spent a good chunk of my mornings at that little bakery two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, watching the city wake up with proper Lithuanian coffee that’ll definitely get your day started. The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but honestly, the beds are comfortable and everything works. You’ll hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper, but it’s more the gentle hum of a living neighborhood than anything jarring.

What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. The 7.6 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. The WiFi actually works well throughout the building (tested it obsessively because I had work calls), and having a little kitchenette means you can grab groceries from that Maxima around the corner and save some euros instead of eating out every meal. The area gets pretty lively on Friday and Saturday nights – you’ll definitely know there’s life happening around you, but it settles down by midnight usually. I’d honestly stay here again, especially if I wanted that balance of being close to Old Town’s main attractions without paying Old Town’s premium prices or dealing with the constant flow of tour groups right outside your window.

• Bad experiences in a good place – Mészáros from Hungary – July 17, 2025 (7/10)

  The rooms are clean and have everything that is neccessary, same for the kitchen at the common area.
  
  What could be improved: The problem was that there is a construction in the building and because of this, there was no running water at the accommodation for hours, and after the problem has been solved, the water coming from the sinks and the toilet was brownish. Also worth to mention that I tried to call the help line they haven't answered only after the 5th call and then the operator told me that she can't speak in English, and put the phone down. I write a message to them on Booking.com, and they were more helpful there. They've responded almost imediately so I suggest to reach out them through text and not phone call.

  What could be improved: They forgot to put towels , I think the cleaner should be careful, because there is no body later when we get in, then we need it, where to ask.

  Very clean, good location, 10 mins walk from bus/train ststion ang again 10 mins to city centre. Right opposite the market so fresh produce on your doorstep. Definitely value for money especially as the room catered for 2 and I was a solo traveller

  cheap, cheerful. read the other reviews, it is kind of dodgy getting here because of all the renovations but once you are in the hallway to access your room it is perfectly nice. large room. shower was nice, beds were comfy. all perfectly nice. considering how little i paid for it i was really impressed. i only stayed here for one night, i stayed in a four star hotel for my two other nights in vilnius and honestly i wished i'd stayed here because i honestly preferred it. quite literally a four minute walk to the airport bus line.
  
  the self check in process was very easy, i had never done this sort of thing before so it took me a couple tries to open the door but once you read the instructions properly (which have helpful pictures attached) it is very easy.
  
  all in all very good. would recommend, especially to travellers on a budget.
  
  What could be improved: there's a hole in the floor next to the stairs to get to the right floor. (yes, really.) but once you are past that it is perfectly nice!

  My room was changed by the hotel, but it was located in the same house. Location is very convenient, less than 10 mins walk from the train station. The entrance was easy to find, self check is very convenient and worked without any difficulties. I got a great room for the price, everything was clean, the kitchenette was well equipped.
