Guesthouse Marija Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Guesthouse Marija, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical tourist trap hotel. The three-star property sits quietly on Širvintu street in the Snipiskes district, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a local neighborhood than a tourist zone. The building itself has that understated Baltic character that I’ve come to appreciate in Vilnius, nothing flashy but solid and welcoming. What really caught my attention right away was how easy parking was, which anyone who’s driven around European city centers will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
Location & Neighborhood
Snipiskes might not be a name you recognize, but trust me on this — it’s actually a smart choice for exploring Vilnius. You’re close enough to the action without being in the thick of tourist crowds, and couples seem to really get this (they consistently rate the location over 9 out of 10). The area has that authentic Lithuanian feel where you’ll see locals going about their daily routines, grabbing coffee at neighborhood spots, walking their dogs. I mean, you can easily reach the Old Town when you want that UNESCO World Heritage experience, but you also get to retreat to somewhere that feels more real at the end of the day.
The Room Experience
Here’s where Guesthouse Marija really delivers — the beds are genuinely comfortable, and I’m not just saying that because it’s in their marketing materials. After walking around Vilnius all day (those cobblestones can be brutal), you actually want to collapse into something that supports you properly. The rooms have a clean, no-nonsense approach that works well for the price point. You’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen and well-maintained. The windows let in good natural light, which makes the space feel larger than it probably is.
Practical Perks
Let’s talk about what actually matters when you’re traveling — the guesthouse offers free private parking right on site, which is honestly a game-changer in Vilnius. You know how stressful it can be driving into an unfamiliar city and wondering where you’ll leave your car? Problem solved. The staff seems to understand that travelers need straightforward information and helpful suggestions without being overly formal about it. They’ll point you toward good local restaurants or help you figure out public transport, but they’re not hovering or trying to upsell you on tours you don’t want.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.2 rating tells the real story here — this is a place that consistently delivers on its promises without trying to be something it’s not. Guests appreciate the combination of comfort, location, and value that’s getting harder to find in European cities. You’re paying three-star prices but getting an experience that feels more thoughtful than many higher-rated places I’ve stayed. It’s the kind of spot where you can actually relax and feel like you’re experiencing Vilnius as more than just a tourist checking boxes off a list.
Hotel in Vilnius booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural and music events.

It was a great stay, the place is super clean and so beautiful!! Marija is such an amazing lady, and her dog Archie is so cute and calm. I highly recommend this place and I will be back there anytime I come to Vilnius again.
Christel from Italy (10/10)
The room was spacious and comfortable, equipped with a sitting area, a separate walk-in closet, and a large private bathroom. Everything was very clean. The location is conveniently close to the city centre, with excellent public transport connections, and there’s a large supermarket nearby. The host was kind and very helpful.

Tatiana from Portugal (9/10)
Very nice host. Spacious comfortable room. Green neighborhood. Funny and nice little dog. Workplace in the room.
Heini from Denmark (8/10)
I had the large room with big terrace on the top floor. Liked it very much, but would not advise people over 180 cm to book this one as ceiling is low (there are several other rooms with high ceiling in building). The manager/owner is very nice and does everything she can to make you feel welcome. There is access to a kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave, so you can prepare your own food if you want.
Wenling from Germany (9/10)
The owner is very friendly and the room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is great. Four bus stations you could reach the city center. And the owner's dog is super cute 🙂
Sander from New Zealand (8/10)
Very nice old house with lovely gardens, terraces and shared kitchen. Apparently also a pool and sauna but didn’t use that. Marija was very kind and helpful. It’s close to bus route but even walking to that start of old town only takes about 20mins
