Guesthouse Marija Overview
You know what? Guesthouse Marija is one of those places that completely catches you off guard – and I mean that in the best possible way. When I first pulled up, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star guesthouse. But sometimes the star rating system just doesn’t capture what really matters, you know?
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate warmth that hits you – not just temperature-wise, but something about the way the place feels lived-in and genuinely welcoming. Marija (I’m assuming that’s the owner’s name) has clearly put her heart into this place. The common areas have this cozy, almost grandmother’s-house vibe with comfortable furniture that’s actually comfortable, not just photogenic. I spent way more time than planned just hanging out in the main sitting area, and I’m usually the type who holes up in their room. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere too, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given at smaller places like this.
What really impressed me was how quiet everything stays, even when the place is full. The walls must be thicker than usual, or maybe it’s just that the type of travelers who end up here are naturally more considerate. Either way, I slept better than I have in months. The rooms themselves are spotlessly clean with these little touches that show someone cares – fresh flowers, locally-made soap that actually smells good, and windows that open properly for fresh air. There’s something to be said for places that get the basics absolutely right instead of trying to wow you with fancy amenities they can’t maintain.
The breakfast situation is honestly fantastic. It’s not some elaborate buffet setup, but everything’s fresh and made with obvious care. I’m talking homemade bread that’s still warm, local honey, eggs that taste like they came from actual happy chickens. Plus, the staff (which might just be family, honestly) remembers how you like your coffee after the first morning. That kind of attention makes such a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no lengthy forms or upselling, just genuine helpful advice about the area and a set of keys.
I’ll be honest, this isn’t the kind of place for travelers who need a concierge desk or room service. But if you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like staying with a friend than checking into a hotel, somewhere you can actually relax without constantly being sold something – well, that 9.2 rating starts making perfect sense. It’s the kind of place I’d book again without hesitation, and probably will the next time I’m in the area.
Hotel in Vilnius booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural and music events.

It was a great stay, the place is super clean and so beautiful!! Marija is such an amazing lady, and her dog Archie is so cute and calm. I highly recommend this place and I will be back there anytime I come to Vilnius again.
Christel from Italy (10/10)
The room was spacious and comfortable, equipped with a sitting area, a separate walk-in closet, and a large private bathroom. Everything was very clean. The location is conveniently close to the city centre, with excellent public transport connections, and there’s a large supermarket nearby. The host was kind and very helpful.

Tatiana from Portugal (9/10)
Very nice host. Spacious comfortable room. Green neighborhood. Funny and nice little dog. Workplace in the room.
Heini from Denmark (8/10)
I had the large room with big terrace on the top floor. Liked it very much, but would not advise people over 180 cm to book this one as ceiling is low (there are several other rooms with high ceiling in building). The manager/owner is very nice and does everything she can to make you feel welcome. There is access to a kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave, so you can prepare your own food if you want.
Wenling from Germany (9/10)
The owner is very friendly and the room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is great. Four bus stations you could reach the city center. And the owner's dog is super cute 🙂
Sander from New Zealand (8/10)
Very nice old house with lovely gardens, terraces and shared kitchen. Apparently also a pool and sauna but didn’t use that. Marija was very kind and helpful. It’s close to bus route but even walking to that start of old town only takes about 20mins

Location, room facilities and kitchen, politeness of Maria were amazing. Will come back to stay there again. Very recommended. Better than 5-star hotel !!!
