You know what struck me first about Grotthuss Boutique Hotel Vilnius? It’s this perfectly renovated 17th-century building that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely modern at the same time. I mean, you walk through these gorgeous original archways and then boom – sleek contemporary interiors that actually work together instead of fighting each other like you see in so many “boutique” places.

The location is honestly fantastic if you want to really experience Vilnius rather than just tourist-trap it. You’re right in the heart of the Old Town but on one of those quieter cobblestone streets where you’re not dodging tour groups every five minutes. The nearby St. Casimir’s Church bells become this lovely background soundtrack rather than an annoyance (though fair warning – they do start early if you’re a heavy sleeper). What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the city – not just the obvious recommendations but genuine local spots. The woman at reception told me about this tiny courtyard café around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my favorite discoveries.

The rooms themselves are thoughtfully designed without being pretentious about it. Mine had these beautiful exposed wooden beams overhead and the most comfortable bed I’ve encountered in Eastern Europe – seriously, I’m still thinking about those pillows. The bathroom was compact but well-planned, with this gorgeous rainfall shower that had excellent water pressure (you never know what you’re going to get in these older buildings). I will say the WiFi was solid throughout, which matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city or catch up on work. The common areas have this cozy, lived-in feeling rather than that sterile hotel lobby vibe – there’s actually a small library corner where I saw guests genuinely reading, not just posing for Instagram. Honestly, with an 8.9 rating, I was expecting good things, but this place exceeded even those expectations. It’s the kind of hotel where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special without the stuffiness that usually comes with that territory.

  Everything. I had a business double with a balcony on the 3rd floor. Absolutely wonderful! Soundproofing made it very quiet. Very clean, spacious with a comfortable bed. No A/C but skylight and patio doors kept it cool. Lots of stairs up to third floor might be difficult for some. Great value. Great staff. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in a long time.

  The room was large and spacious, and had a balcony overlooking the street. Quite unusual for hotels now, the bathroom had a full sized bath. The terrace at the back was perfect for an evening drink, though the bar didn't open until 4pm.

  Perfect location, really beautiful building, including the rooms and the very cosy breakfast area, extremely clean! The city of Vilnius itself was also a wonderful destination with beatiful houses, interesting sights and a lot of things going on.
