I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to GoldenHugo Apartment on D. Gerbutavičiaus street, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. The Karoliniškes neighborhood isn’t exactly the postcard part of Vilnius, you know? But here’s the thing about this area that most tourists don’t realize: it’s actually brilliant for getting around the city. You’re maybe fifteen minutes by bus to Old Town, but without the tourist markup on everything from coffee to groceries.

The apartment itself totally surprised me – I mean, that 9.3 rating isn’t just people being generous. The space feels way bigger than most European city stays, and honestly, after spending weeks in cramped hotel rooms, having an actual kitchen was a game-changer. You can hit up the IKI supermarket just down the street (locals shop there, so you know the prices are real) and actually cook a proper meal. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re working remotely – I had video calls without any issues. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. Karoliniškes isn’t a party district, so you actually sleep well, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either.

The whole setup just works, you know? There’s decent parking if you’re driving – not a given in Vilnius – and the public transport connections are actually better than some fancier neighborhoods. I caught the trolleybus to Gediminas Avenue plenty of times, and it’s straightforward once you figure out the system. The building itself is one of those Soviet-era blocks that’s been properly renovated, so you get the space and practicality without the depressing atmosphere. Sure, it’s not going to win any architecture awards, but sometimes you want a place that just handles the basics really well instead of trying to be Instagram-perfect. For a 3-star place, GoldenHugo delivers exactly what it promises – a proper apartment experience in a real Vilnius neighborhood, not some sanitized tourist bubble.

  The apartment is recently renovated and very clean. Kids each had a room and it was great. It's a good value for money if you want space and don't mind being 15 min away from the city center.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen is too small for a family to have a meal, and there is no common sitting area. The place is nice and clean but soulless like a standard hotel room.

  Bardzo duże pokoje. Polecamy na 4 pary. Bardzo czysto. W sumie nawet stylowo. Cena mega super. Zameldowanie elastyczne dzięki kluczowi na kod. Blisko sklepy i wieża widokowa TV. Udało się zaparkować – za darmo.
  
  What could be improved: Trochę przeraża klatka schodowa. I ogólnie bloki wyglądają jak z Czarnobyla ale ma to swoj klimat.

  Хорошая квартира, много комнат, чисто.
  
  What could be improved: Было ужасно холодно. В январе месяце при заселении были открыты все окна на проветривание и батареи еле теплые. К утру помещения так и не прогрелись. Пришлось спать в одежде. Это был очень неприятный сюрприз, особенно для маленьких детей.
  Если бы не этот нюанс, то в остальном все хорошо.
