Cosy Naujamiescio apartment Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – Cosy Naujamiescio apartment is one of those places that sounds better in theory than it actually is. I stayed here thinking I’d found some hidden gem in Naujamiestis (which, by the way, just means “New Town” in Lithuanian), but honestly? It was a bit of a letdown.

The location on Švitrigailos street isn’t terrible – you’re walking distance from the main drag and there’s a decent grocery store nearby. I mean, Naujamiestis itself is fine if you don’t mind being outside the old town charm that most people come to Vilnius for. The thing is, this apartment is on the third floor of what feels like a pretty standard Soviet-era building, and the elevator… well, let’s just say I got my daily cardio in. The hallways have that particular smell that old apartment buildings get – not terrible, just very lived-in, you know? When I finally got to the actual unit, it was smaller than the photos suggested (isn’t it always?), and honestly, calling it “cosy” feels like real estate speak for “cramped.”

What really got me was the attention to detail, or lack thereof. The Wi-Fi was spotty, which is pretty much a deal-breaker when you’re trying to navigate a new city or get any work done. The kitchen had the basics but felt like an afterthought – I couldn’t even find a decent knife to cut some bread I’d picked up from the market. And don’t get me started on the shower pressure. I’ve stayed in actual budget hostels with better water flow. The whole place just felt like someone had thrown together the minimum required furniture and called it boutique. I actually had to contact someone about the heating (this was in March, and Vilnius can still be pretty chilly), and the response was… less than helpful. You know what really sealed it for me though? The noise. You’d think being up on the third floor would buffer you from street sounds, but apparently the building’s acoustics work against you. I could hear everything – doors slamming, people talking in the hallway, even the neighbor’s TV through the walls.

I hate writing reviews like this because I know someone probably put effort into this place, but I’d honestly recommend spending a bit more and staying closer to the old town instead. Vilnius has so much character and charm, and you’ll miss a lot of it staying out here. The bus connections aren’t bad if you don’t mind the commute, but when you’re on vacation, do you really want to spend time figuring out public transport every time you want to grab dinner or see the cathedral? If you’re absolutely budget-conscious and just need a place to crash, it’ll do – but manage your expectations way down.
