Classic Old Town Apartment next to the Gates of Dawn Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Classic Old Town Apartment next to the Gates of Dawn, I thought it might be one of those places that oversells its location. But actually walking up to this 4-star spot on Aušros Vartu street, you realize they’re not kidding around. You’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Vilnius’s most sacred sites, and I mean that in the most practical sense – you can pop over to see the chapel whenever you want without dealing with tour groups if you time it right.
The building itself has that solid, understated feel you get with a lot of Old Town properties. It’s not trying to be flashy, which honestly works in its favor. The apartment setup means you get more space than your typical hotel room, and there’s something refreshing about having a proper kitchen if you want to grab groceries from the little markets scattered around the neighborhood. The 8.2 rating makes sense once you settle in – everything works like it should, the WiFi doesn’t cut out when you need it most, and the heating actually keeps up with those Baltic winters (trust me on this one). The only thing I’d mention is that Old Town means old buildings, so if you’re expecting perfectly soundproof walls, well… you might hear your neighbors occasionally. But that’s pretty standard for the area.
What really got me about staying here was how it puts you right in the rhythm of local life. You know that little stretch of Aušros Vartu street? It’s got this perfect mix of residents heading to work and visitors wandering around, but it never feels overwhelming like some of the main tourist drags. There’s a decent café about a block down where locals actually drink their morning coffee – not just a tourist trap – and you’re close enough to Užupis that you can easily walk over when you want something a bit more bohemian. The Gates of Dawn themselves are beautiful in the early morning before the crowds show up, and staying this close means you can actually experience that quiet moment. Plus, parking in Old Town is usually a nightmare, but they’ve sorted that out reasonably well here. I mean, it’s still Old Town parking, so don’t expect miracles, but at least you’re not circling the block for twenty minutes. The whole setup just works – you feel like you’re living in Vilnius rather than just visiting it, which is exactly what you want from a good apartment-style stay.
To book a hotel in Vilnius during major Baltic celebrations, travelers need early planning as this historic Lithuanian capital draws visitors eager to experience its UNESCO World Heritage old town and vibrant arts scene.

Reviews of Classic Old Town Apartment next to the Gates of Dawn
Stairs to the apartment and then stairs to the bedroom which is an attic space so watch your head! Great location. A lit – Michael from United States – July 23, 2025 (8/10)
Great location. Clean and tidy.
Had a fabulous stay in Vilnius Old Town, close to restaurants. Easy No. 88 Bus from airport nearby. – Lynette from Australia – April 22, 2025 (8/10)
Location. Old style but clean. Toilet on both floors. Very comfortable lounge with dining table & windows
What could be improved: Mattress not very comfortable, but we are in our 60’s & appreciate softer mattresses.
Take care in some areas due to roof lineGreat location and very comfortable property where you feel part of the locality. – Christopher from United Kingdom – March 17, 2025 (8/10)
Good location between the Town Hall and Gate of Dawn. Very handy for bars restaurants and tourism. Quirky old fashioned style – with a bit of a Soviet era vibe. Very clean, spacious and comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Could do with a bit of updating but was adequate and everything worked. In a town with an IKEA there is no excuse for chipped mugs and 1 teaspoon !Beautiful place to stay short term and enjoy the old city – Līva from Latvia – February 3, 2025 (8/10)
The apartment is very pretty with very beautiful interior.
What could be improved: The place is very very small, you have to be very careful not to hit your head in various places, not suitable for tall people. The cleanliness is also not very good. No paper towels, no bowls for breakfast, very hard to even clean after yourself.Location location location. – Emily from Australia – December 29, 2024 (9/10)
Location for brilliant! Bed was comfortable. Water temperature and room heating were both perfect!
What could be improved: NilVery good – Arturas from United States – July 11, 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Parking and condicionerrWonderful – Michael from United Kingdom – March 25, 2024 (9/10)
Very spacious, good hot water, cooking facilities, location can't be beaten was amazing, light and airy. Also had netflix (for the rainy day), quiet.
What could be improved: The bed had 2 single duvets rather than a double….which in winter made things a little colder. Overall the bedding was good though.
A security deposit was taken that I wasn't aware of….. And it's been advised it will be returned, so no real problems but would have been nice to know. (Maybe it was stated and I missed it but I don't think so)
1 or 2 salad bowls in the kitchen would be useful.
Apart from that all else was great.Great stay, I will choose this apartment again next time. – Min from Taiwan – February 13, 2024 (9/10)
The location is good and the room is beautiful.
Nice spacious apartament in a great location. But it needs a bit of attention. – Beata from United Kingdom – July 1, 2025 (7/10)
We liked the location of the property. It was also spacious and very quiet.
What could be improved: The staircase to the property was dirty. The kichten was not very well equipped. The cooker's ignition worked only on one hob, so to light other hobs you either had to use matches, not provided, or a piece of card to catch the fire from the working hob. It needs servicing. The light inside the cooker hood did not work, and other undercupboard lights did not work either. The kitchen needed deep cleaning as the surfaces were greasy, like the top of the hood. The rug, or some kind of cloth, on the floor was torn and the bottom of the cupboards were bashed. The lighting was bad in the sitting area and the bedroom. One lamp in each room, reading anything was not possible for two of us in one room. The bathroom was spacious but it needed attention. The shower sillicone is mouldy and it needs replacement. None of the soap dispensers worked. On the list of items provided there were shampoo and other basic toiletries. None of those was in the flat. The bedroom is in the loft with many windows. Some had good blinds, but the two in the sliding roof had very thin ones letting a lot of morning sun in, which made it difficult to sleep.I had a wonderful stay. – Neringa from United States – May 21, 2025 (10/10)
Location was perfect. Super close to everything in old town yet very quiet. The host was super helpful and very quick to respond to all of my questions.
