City Gate Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to City Gate on Bazilijonų Street, you immediately get why this place has such devoted repeat guests. It’s one of those three-star hotels that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it just does everything really well. The building sits right in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, and honestly, you can’t ask for a better spot to explore the city’s cobblestone streets and medieval charm. The architecture blends seamlessly with the surrounding historic buildings, creating an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re truly experiencing the essence of Lithuania’s capital.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s not just good, it’s actually perfect for couples who want to wander around without constantly checking maps. You’re literally surrounded by the best parts of Vilnius, with those narrow streets and hidden courtyards just steps away. The locals clearly know something we do, because this area feels authentically Lithuanian rather than touristy. You can walk to most of the major sights, but you’re also close enough to real neighborhood spots where people actually live and work. The proximity to cafes, galleries, and traditional markets means you’ll discover something new every time you step outside.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything worked exactly as it should. What struck me was how quiet it was, considering you’re right in the old town center. The windows are well-insulated, so even though there’s life happening outside, you can actually get a good night’s sleep. The beds are solid, not too soft and not too firm, with enough space to spread out your belongings without feeling cramped. Modern amenities blend thoughtfully with traditional touches, creating a space that feels both functional and welcoming for extended stays.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is a proper buffet situation, and they’ve got the basics covered really well. Fresh bread, local cheeses, and decent coffee — the kind of spread that gets you ready for a day of exploring without breaking the bank. They included some Lithuanian specialties alongside the standard European breakfast items. It’s not elaborate, but it’s filling and gives you excellent value for what you’re paying. The dining area overlooks the charming street below, making your morning meal feel like part of the Vilnius experience rather than just hotel routine.
Why Guests Love It
The free private parking is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving — finding a spot in Vilnius Old Town can be a real headache otherwise. What really sets City Gate apart is how many people come back here repeatedly. There’s something to be said for a place that treats you well enough that you don’t even consider staying anywhere else on your next visit. The staff seems to remember returning guests, and there’s this comfortable, no-fuss atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel relaxed rather than stressful. For couples especially, this place just works — you’re close to romantic dinner spots, you can stroll through the old town at night, and you’ve got a reliable base to return to after your adventures. The combination of authentic location, practical amenities, and genuine hospitality creates exactly the kind of memorable stay that keeps travelers coming back year after year.

Liked everything. Second time in this hotel and if i'll visit Vilnius in future probably book the hotel again. Very good location – 100m from old town(Gate of Dawn), about 8min walk from central bus and train stations, 6min Mcdonalds(in case of a sudden late night hunger). In yard parking space.

It was my third stay in this hotel. This time I find the stay as perfect thanks to a very nice and professional receptionist Anna. She was very kind, helpful and on top of that she spoke fluent Polish, which is not so obvious in this hotel. The hotel provides a very clean and comfortable accommodation. Breakfasts are also very good there. Parking is available free of charge. The location is most suitable for us at the Gate of Dawn.
