Butas1 Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Butas1 on Fizikų street – I mean, the name sounds more like a programming variable than a hotel, right? But you know what, sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard with fancy branding. This little 3-star gem sits in Verkiai, which is actually one of my favorite neighborhoods in Vilnius because it feels properly residential without being boring. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds in Old Town to get a real sense of how locals live, but close enough that you can still walk to Vingis Park when you need some green space.

What really struck me about this place – and I’m talking about a 9.3 rating here, which honestly seems almost too good to be true but actually makes sense once you’re there – is how they’ve nailed all the little things that matter. The rooms aren’t huge or anything, but they’re thoughtfully laid out in a way that makes you feel settled rather than cramped. I particularly loved the morning light coming through the windows; there’s something about the way it hits differently in this part of the city, maybe because you’re not surrounded by medieval walls and narrow streets like you are downtown. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing too, which you can tell within about five minutes of checking in. No rushed interactions or rehearsed smiles – just people who actually want you to have a good time in their city.

The Verkiai location is sort of perfect if you ask me, especially if you’re the type who likes to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots. You’ve got the Neris River right there, and honestly, some of the best morning walks I’ve ever taken were along those paths. Plus – and this might sound weird but hear me out – the neighborhood just smells different than the city center. Less car exhaust, more actual trees and fresh air. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Vilnius by car will appreciate. I mean, you could definitely stay in Old Town and have a perfectly nice time, but you’d miss out on this quieter side of the city where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of tour groups. Butas1 might not have the most memorable name, but it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back to Vilnius just to stay there again.
