You know what really surprised me about Aurea apartment? I honestly wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to 56 Giedraičių gatvė in Snipiskes – I mean, this part of Vilnius isn’t exactly the postcard-perfect Old Town everyone raves about. But sometimes the best discoveries happen when you venture beyond the obvious tourist zones, and this place is proof of that.

The moment I stepped inside, it hit me that someone actually put thought into this space. Not the cookie-cutter hotel room vibe you get everywhere else, but more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place who happens to have incredible taste. The apartment feels genuinely lived-in yet polished – if that makes sense – with these little touches that you only notice when you’re actually there for a few days. The kitchen is properly equipped (I’m talking real coffee maker, not some sad instant coffee situation), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works well, unlike half the “luxury” places I’ve stayed at. What really got me was the natural light streaming through these huge windows – honestly, it transforms the whole space depending on the time of day.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: Snipiskes is actually perfectly positioned if you want to experience Vilnius like locals do, rather than getting stuck in the tourist bubble. You’re close enough to walk into the city center when you want that medieval charm, but you’re also surrounded by genuine neighborhood life – there’s this fantastic little market just a few streets over where babushkas sell the most incredible fresh bread, and the coffee scene around here is surprisingly good. The area gets quiet in the evenings, which I personally loved after long days exploring, though if you’re someone who needs to stumble out of bed directly onto cobblestone streets, this might feel a bit removed. Parking was never an issue when I was there, which – trust me – is not something you can say about most of central Vilnius. The whole experience just felt more authentic somehow, like I was getting a peek into how the city actually works rather than just seeing the Instagram version of it.

  What could be improved: The mattress in the bedroom was too soft for me and the sofa creaked a lot. I would like to have a youtube. With the windows open, it's quite noisy to sleep from passing cars from the street.

  What could be improved: Instructions were sent almost only when i was actually going to apartment. It gave additional stress to adjust. I like to plan and read through all instructions in advance to be prepared.
