The front desk guy (I think his name was Marcus?) knew exactly which restaurants nearby took walk-ins versus reservations, and he was right about the little café two blocks down having the best morning coffee in the area. Check-in was smooth even though I showed up way earlier than I should have, and they stored my bags without any attitude about it. The location works well if you don’t mind walking a bit – you’re not right in the thick of tourist chaos, but you can get to the main attractions without needing a taxi every time. Street parking is actually possible if you’re driving, though you’ll want to move your car before the morning rush starts. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re trying to recover from jet lag, but maybe less ideal if you’re looking to stumble home from late-night adventures. Overall, it’s one of those places that gets the basics really right without trying to be something it’s not – and honestly, that 8.6 rating feels about right to me.
