Angel House Vilnius 29 Overview

Honestly, when I first walked up to Angel House Vilnius 29 on Užupio street, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the entrance is tucked away in this narrow doorway that you could easily miss if you weren’t looking for it. But that’s actually part of its charm, because once you’re inside, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special in the heart of Vilnius Old Town.

The thing about this place is that it sits right in the sweet spot between being central and being peaceful. You know how some hotels claim to be in the “historic district” but they’re actually stuck on some busy main road? Well, Užupio street is the real deal – cobblestones, medieval buildings, the works – but it’s on one of those quieter side streets where you can actually sleep at night. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Cathedral Square and all the main tourist stuff, but when you close your apartment door, it’s surprisingly quiet. The whole area has this almost village-like feel, especially early in the morning when you can hear church bells echoing off the old walls.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with the historic setting. The apartment itself feels genuinely homey – not like someone just threw together some IKEA furniture and called it a day. The kitchen actually has everything you need (I’m talking proper coffee maker, not those terrible pod machines), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that makes you want to stay in there forever. The windows are these gorgeous tall ones that let in tons of natural light, and if you’re lucky enough to get a view toward the old town spires… well, let’s just say your Instagram is going to thank you. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done – I had video calls with no issues.

Here’s something locals know that most tourists don’t: Užupio street puts you right at the edge of the bohemian Užupis district, which is basically Vilnius’s answer to Montmartre. You can wander over to the “Republic of Užupis” (it’s this quirky artist quarter that declared independence as a joke) and grab coffee at one of those tiny cafés where everyone seems to know each other. Plus, you’re walking distance to Bernardine Park, which is perfect for morning runs if you’re into that sort of thing.

The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around in some sterile lobby, just clear instructions sent ahead of time and everything worked exactly as promised. Parking can be a bit tricky in the old town (like anywhere historic in Europe), but they give you solid advice about where to find spots, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything worth seeing is within walking distance, and the few things that aren’t are easily reachable by those efficient little buses that somehow navigate these narrow medieval streets.

With a 9.7 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place actually lives up to the hype – which is rarer than you’d think in travel.

  • Wonderful – Darya from Belarus – November 12, 2022 (9/10)

A very beautiful, cosy, spacious and functional apartment. If you want to be impressed by a place you stay in, this is a right choice. Ideal for groups of 3-5 people both space and price wise.

What could be improved: There's quite a high stair down from the entrance, you should watch your step. Also there're a couple of stairs to the bathroom and another one up to one of the bedrooms. Might not be the best fir for people with mobility issues.
