But here’s the thing locals know: Aukštaičių is just far enough from the main drag that you don’t get the drunk bachelor parties stumbling past your window at 2am. I stayed here in July, which is peak season, and honestly slept better than I expected. The building itself has that solid Eastern European construction – thick walls that actually block sound, not like those paper-thin modern places.

The self check-in thing works surprisingly well, though I’ll admit I was a bit nervous about it at first. They send you all the codes and instructions ahead of time, and there’s a lockbox situation that’s pretty straightforward. The apartment I had was on the second floor (no elevator, just so you know), and it felt more like staying in someone’s actual home than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen had everything you’d need if you wanted to grab groceries from the Maxima down the street – proper plates, decent knives, even a coffee maker that wasn’t terrible. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters if you’re working remotely or just trying to figure out where to eat dinner.

But honestly, the free parking is the real game-changer here. Anyone who’s driven in Vilnius Old Town knows what a nightmare parking can be – you’re either paying through the nose for hotel parking or circling the cobblestone streets looking for a spot that doesn’t exist. Having a guaranteed space takes so much stress out of the equation, especially if you’re planning day trips to Trakai or want to explore outside the city. The parking area felt secure too, not just some random street spot.

The apartment itself was clean and well-maintained, though the decor is pretty basic – think IKEA meets Eastern European efficiency. The shower had good water pressure (always a gamble in old buildings), and the bed was actually comfortable, not one of those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you wrestled a bear all night. There’s decent natural light from the windows, and you get little glimpses of Old Town rooftops if you crane your neck just right.

Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy place you’ll ever stay, and the name is definitely doing it no favors. But if you want a genuine, comfortable base in Vilnius Old Town without paying luxury hotel prices – and especially if you’re driving – this place delivers on its promises. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just quietly do everything right without making a big fuss about it.

  What could be improved: When something is too good to be true, it usually is. Firstly, there was no wifi at all, no extra bedding, pillows or blankets were provided, even though they said it would be in the closet, the place was dirty, bathroom had long women's hair all over the floor, dirty countertops and shower. To make matters even worse, the TV was broken, so I couldn't use it. I was really unsatisfied with my stay.
