Alexa Old Town Overview
You know what struck me first about Alexa Old Town? It’s tucked into this narrow cobblestone stretch on Pylimo Street where most tourists are rushing past on their way to Cathedral Square, but the locals – they actually slow down here. The building itself has that weathered limestone facade that screams authentic Vilnius, not some renovated tourist trap trying too hard to look historic.
I mean, calling it a boutique hotel is probably the easiest way to explain it, but honestly, it feels more like staying in someone’s well-traveled aunt’s apartment – if that aunt happened to have impeccable taste and a thing for mixing Soviet-era furniture with contemporary Lithuanian art. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Old Town after all, where buildings from the 1400s weren’t exactly designed with American-sized expectations), but there’s something refreshing about spaces that actually feel lived-in rather than sterile. The bathroom tiles have this interesting geometric pattern that I’m pretty sure you won’t find in any chain hotel, and the windows – well, depending on which side you get, you’re either looking out at the morning bustle of locals heading to work or catching glimpses of St. Casimir’s spires through the rooftops.
What really won me over was the staff’s approach to hospitality. They’re not hovering with forced smiles, but when I mentioned I was trying to find this specific amber shop my friend had recommended, the desk clerk actually walked outside to point me toward Stiklių Street and warned me about the tourist-priced places to avoid. That kind of insider knowledge you just don’t get at the bigger hotels down by the river. Speaking of location – and I know everyone says this – but being right in the maze of Old Town means you’re genuinely walking distance from everything that matters. Gediminas Tower is maybe a twelve-minute walk uphill, the bohemian Užupis district is just across the river, and if you’re into the whole Soviet history thing, the KGB Museum is practically around the corner on Aukų Street. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me, actually – it’s not trying to be luxury, and yeah, you might hear some street noise on weekend nights when the bars empty out, but there’s something honest about a place that embraces its Old Town character instead of fighting it. Plus, parking is sorted if you need it, which honestly is half the battle in these narrow medieval streets where cars feel like an afterthought.

Excellent location, self check in and check out
What could be improved: Needed cash for city tax, mattress was too soft and the neighbourhood was quite loud at nightVery Good – Arnis from Latvia – July 24, 2025 (8/10)
Very vell location near old town and market. Parking in a closed courtyard. Quiet rooms.
What could be improved: The refrigerator worked badly.Located right next to a market hall, a perfect starting point to explore. – David from Netherlands – July 20, 2025 (8/10)

Great location but expensive parking – Cassidy from Spain – July 17, 2025 (8/10)
The property was in a great location near to the centre. The room was clean and comfortable
What could be improved: It was quite a large hotel but with no staff. I understand that you have to keep costs down but at times it’s nice to have the personal touch.
Parking around the hotel was also a nightmare. Costing 2.50€ an hour but a short distance away I found free parkingNice for one night – Александр from Belarus – July 17, 2025 (8/10)
The room was very neat and tidy. Excellent location. Helpful staff.
What could be improved: There’s no air conditioning in the room, so we had to keep the window open and it was loud and we had difficulties to fall asleep.Good – Jevgenijs from Latvia – July 16, 2025 (7/10)
The location is brilliant, very close both to the Old Town and to the railway station. The famous Hales Turgus is next door to the hotel.
The bed was very comfortable.
The staff never comes out to the guests and never shows up even during check-in and check-out. Maybe that's an advantage.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, it was not very clean, and the room clearly needed some renovation.
During my stay at the hotel, I constantly had one or another question. Why did they turn off the water supply valve to the toilet before my arrival? How to turn on some of the lamps that were hanging from the ceiling, but there was no switch? Conversely, part of the light in the toilet was constantly on, and I still wonder whether it could be turned off inside the room? Why not give the visitor a magnetic key and not make him enter the code every time?
All this made my stay a bit awkward.Perfect city centre budget stay – Dávid from Netherlands – July 5, 2025 (8/10)
Great location, comfortable, clean, self-check in.
Wonderful – Maria from Greece – June 29, 2025 (9/10)
Everything was great! The location, the room. Very good value for money. It also was very convenient that we could leave our luggages secure in the reception area the day of check out, for many hours untill the time of our flight.
What could be improved: No complaint at all.
