But then I actually walked up to the place on Aušros Vartų street, and you know what? It’s literally next to one of Vilnius’s most famous landmarks. I mean, you step outside and there’s this stunning baroque gate chapel right there – the one pilgrims have been visiting for centuries. The location alone makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger than just another vacation rental.

What really struck me about this place, though, is how it manages to feel both grand and homey at the same time. The duplex setup means you’re not cramped into some converted studio – there’s actually room to spread out across three proper bedrooms. The living spaces have that satisfying weight of old European architecture, with thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet despite being right in the heart of Old Town. And honestly, that’s no small feat when you’re this close to Pilies Street, where the tourist crowds can get pretty intense during summer afternoons. The apartment has these lovely tall windows that let in gorgeous morning light, which is perfect because – let’s face it – you’ll probably want to linger over coffee while planning your day.

Here’s what locals probably won’t tell you: this spot puts you within a five-minute walk of some of the best traditional Lithuanian restaurants that aren’t overrun with tour groups. You can actually wander down toward Universiteto street early in the morning and have the cobblestones almost to yourself – it’s magical. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there; everything works as it should, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is actually equipped well enough that you could cook a proper meal if you wanted to skip restaurant prices for a night. The only minor thing is that parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but honestly, you won’t need a car much in this location. I found myself just walking everywhere – to Cathedral Square, up to Gediminas Tower, even over to Užupis when I was feeling ambitious. There’s something about staying in a real neighborhood apartment rather than a generic hotel that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re getting a genuine taste of Vilnius life.

  What could be improved: Now I understand why the majority of the reviews on here feel so "neutral" – nothing is very wrong or bad, but some things are missing that could make a huge difference. A few things that distracted from our stay being perfect:
  – The bed part on the sofa bed was broken and unusable
  – Some lights didn't work, toilet seat in the upstair bathroom broken as well
  – Fireplace was not usable (we checked with management). Would have been nice to know ahead of time since it's featured in the pictures and definitely was one of the points of excitement when we booked.
  – Kitchen didn't have paper towels. Curiously, the house rules dwell quite a bit on how NOT to abuse bath towels, but towels was basically the only thing provided so I can see how people would resort to using them for other things as well.
  – Only a few dishwasher soap packets provided. We had 6 people, the dishwasher is not large. We spent a lot of time washing dishes by hand. Obviously, could have bought dishwasher soap too, but it is an inconvenience and a waste of money in the end – wouldn't end up using all we bought and wouldn't be taking it with us.
