20 stairs Overview
You know what struck me first about 20 stairs? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – I mean, you’ll literally climb those twenty steps to reach this intimate little gem tucked right into the heart of Vilnius Old Town on Aušros Vartų street. It’s one of those places where the entrance almost feels secret, like you’re being let in on something special that most tourists walking by might miss entirely.
The location is honestly incredible if you want to feel like you’re living in medieval Vilnius rather than just visiting it. You’re literally steps away from the Gates of Dawn (Aušros Vartai) – and I don’t mean a five-minute walk, I mean you can practically reach out and touch one of the city’s most sacred sites. Early morning is magical here because you’ll hear the church bells before the tour groups arrive, and there’s something about having your coffee while looking out at cobblestones that have been here for centuries. The staff seemed to really get that guests want that authentic Old Town experience – they’re locals who actually know which nearby restaurants fill up with residents versus tourists, and they’ll point you toward Literatų gatvė if you want to see something genuinely unique that most guidebooks skip over.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to create a 4-star experience without losing that intimate, almost residential feel. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate – you can tell someone actually considered how the space would work for real people, not just how it would photograph. I appreciated details like actually good lighting for reading and bathrooms that don’t require contortionist skills to use the shower. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be a flashy international chain, but everything works properly and feels intentional. Parking can be tricky in this part of Old Town (honestly, it’s tricky everywhere in the old center), but they’ll help you figure out the closest options – and really, you’ll want to walk everywhere once you’re here anyway. The streets are narrow and winding, so you’ll hear some ambient noise from people exploring, but that’s part of the charm of staying right in the thick of things rather than in some sterile hotel district. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to step out your door directly into centuries of history, this is exactly what you’re looking for.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Vilnius at least two months ahead for major events like cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

Charming apartment in Vilnois – Silvia from Netherlands – July 25, 2025 (10/10)
I had a wonderful stay at this property in Vilnius. I had the pleasure of meeting the host, Tina, who is absolutely lovely and very friendly. She even provided me with an umbrella since rain was in the forecast—such a thoughtful touch!
The flat is located in a calm and quiet area, so I had no issues with noise at all. A big plus is the available parking—especially helpful since parking in Vilnius can be quite expensive.
The apartment itself is clean, well-equipped with everything you need, and decorated in a cute and cozy style. It's perfectly located in the city center, near one of the main gates, so everything is within walking distance—supermarkets, the market, the train and bus stations, and all the main sights.
The terrace is a plus! I loved cooking and eating there 🙂
Highly recommend this place for a comfortable and convenient stay in Vilnius!Mrs – Nadezda from Latvia – July 24, 2025 (10/10)
